Walk, stand , sit......
I have always liked Psalm 1. It is so descriptive ..and seems to set the tone for the whole book oF Psalms..
First , blessings for those who do not walk in step... Reminds me of marching along , the lock step with the wicked ....keeping in step, making sure you are keeping the rhythm of those about you...we want to Make sure they are the right people to walk with, not leading us down the wrong path...
Stand InThe way that sinners take.....in a. Group of people that we don't need to be with...this conjures up a lot of pictures.,people milling about, you can listen to a lot of conversations and not really paying attention to the person you are standing with....or pictures we see of gangs, or those throwing stones, etc, on the news...
Sit in the company of mockers.....sitting with others, connotes really engaged in what is being said..because you have seated yourself with them and are listening intently...
On the other hand, we can walk with believers....reminds me of the disciples walking along with Jesus or on the road to Emmaus, listening to Jesus talk through the scriptures,,
We stand with the godly....making sure we are listening to correct/right thinking....
Siting in the company of believers,,,rather than mockers. Small groups , families , Sunday school, engaged InThe truth...engaged with one another...
Making sure that we are delighting in The Lord, meditating on His
Word, rooted in the living water, yielding the fruit of the spirit, obedience , standing firm in times of hardship, prospering in the things God has prepared...
Not being blown about with the worldly values, which comes and goes,,,leading to the thoughts of man rather than God....
I want to b e found InThe assembly of the righteous...in the house of The Lord ...not leading to destruction....
Psalm 1
1 Blessed is the one
who does not walk in step with the wicked
or stand in the way that sinners take
or sit in the company of mockers,
2 but whose delight is in the law of the Lord,
and who meditates on his law day and night.
3 That person is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither—
whatever they do prospers.
4 Not so the wicked!
They are like chaff
that the wind blows away.
5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.
6 For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous,
but the way of the wicked leads to destruction.
