Handicapped rooms...
Last night I stayed in Burns, OR. I first checked on one motel that has a nice pool, but the heater wasn't working, so pool was cold!!! So checked on another motel with a pool and decided to stay there . Pool was so nice ...the trade off was the only room they had was the handicapped accessible room. They are great, everything is bigger, the doors are wider, the bathroom is bigger there is more room in the room. I have stayed in quite a few over the last two years. The last one was in Northeastern CA when we moving from Elko to Touchmark in Bend to be closer to more family in Don's final weeks. So a bittersweet experience.......great pool, lots of memories .......
Each motel with handicapped rooms is totally set up differently, prepared differently...some have roll-in showers, others provide a seat over the bathtub, with handheld shower heads. still others have flip down seats to move to from a wheel chair.all have taller toilets, lots of bars on the walls...each designer must have a different handicap in mind. Some rooms are really two rooms with gobs of space, two bathrooms,,,different ,,different..
It just made me think as Christians, we are having rooms prepared especially for us in heaven...
John 14:1-3
Jesus Comforts His Disciples
14 “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God[a]; believe also in me. 2 My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.
Revelations 21 and 22 hold lots of hints and details of what heaven will hold. (In re-reading it, do the geologists enjoy looking at all the geology it describes?).
- no more sea
-beautiful, as a bride adorned for her husband
-the size, the shape, the gates
-no tears, sorrow, death, pain
-new, not remodeled
-having the the Glory of GOd
-pure gold, precious stones, pearls
-no need of the sun or moon, because of God's Glory
-river of life, tree of life
-the throne of God and His servants
The beauty will beyond comparison, but I imagine we will be looking at the throne. We probably won't be comparing our rooms, looking, saying...they won't be to government specifications, interpretations of "handicapped" room. They will be for the redeemed, from all nations, races, ages, .....those who profess and accept Jesus as Lord.....
Revelation 22:17
17 The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let the one who hears say, “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life.
John 3:16
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
We all live in the handicapped rooms here on earth. They look different depending on our lives, but what is being prepared is glorious ....beyond our imagination ....for the us especially....
