Gracious.....

Gracious....

I like the word gracious...it just sounds good and when you read all about the meanings, It just sounds better .....and the antonym is just one word, ungracious, not a list of words to undo it...
We see gracious people, who are kind, loving, welcoming, always comfortable to be around, always accepting of us, like slipping into a warm bathtub of good smelling water....surrounded, enfolded, encompassed...I want that in a doctor, dentist, a friend, a family, a nurse......

I appreciate that the Holy Spirit is gracious! that He works to make me gracious through the fruit of the spirit....He  is working in those around me also .....and continues to do so until completion.....He doesn't give up....it is His kindness (graciousness)
that leads to repentance....

Lord, I thank you for Your graciousness to me, the gracious people you put in my path.....help me act, speak graciously to those around me in all my words, actions....that they may see You...YOur light, working.....

Witness of the Spirit
(Rom. 8:16), the consciousness of the gracious operation of the Spirit on the mind, "a certitude of the Spirit's presence and work continually asserted within us", manifested "in his comforting us, his stirring us up to prayer, his reproof of our sins, his drawing us to works of love, to bear testimony before the world," etc.

Earnest
The Spirit is the earnest of the believer's destined inheritance (2 Cor. 1:22; 5:5; Eph. 1:14). The word thus rendered is the same as that rendered "pledge" in Gen. 38:17-20; "indeed, the Hebrew word has simply passed into the Greek and Latin languages, probably through commercial dealings with the Phoenicians, the great trading people of ancient days. Originally it meant no more than a pledge; but in common usage it came to denote that particular kind of pledge which is a part of the full price of an article paid in advance; and as it is joined with the figure of a seal when applied to the Spirit, it seems to be used by Paul in this specific sense." The Spirit's gracious presence and working in believers is a foretaste to them of the blessedness of heaven. God is graciously pleased to give not only pledges but foretastes of future blessedness.

The fruits of the Spirit (Gal. 5:22, 23; Eph. 5:9; James 3:17, 18) are those gracious dispositions and habits which the Spirit produces in those in whom he dwells and works.

.....In the case of adults it is an indispensable means of salvation, and is efficacious thereunto by the gracious influence of the Holy Spirit (John 17:17; 2 Tim. 3:15, 16; 1 Pet. 1:23).
