Empty houses...homes.....

Empty Houses......homes...

Now that most of the leaves are gone fro the trees, empty bird nests are being revealed, deserted, lonely from that life that once was teaming there...along the streets, there are "for sale" signs for human houses, or even foreclosure signs,.....and down some roads, there are old abandoned homes, falling down in disrepair .....windows broken, doors askew, faded paint, fences falling....

 I wonder, as I see them, what is the family story about that house....where are the families now or where did they go?  No name plates left as at the grave yard....no epitaph left....just broken....deserted.....what is the legacy left.....does it live on somewhere else...in a newer home....I hope so....

Then the people that live in the newer ones.... Everyone has a story...a legacy....does it include laughter, joy, pain...sorrow...what have we built our lives on....sand, rock...the world values or God values......

We each get to make that decision...what are our lives built on.....what will be that epitaph....

Thank YOU for the reminders of life...either empty or Life filled....help me to be so life filled that it runs over....

Luke 6:47-49
47 As for everyone who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice, I will show you what they are like. 48 They are like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built. 49 But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete.”

Deuteronomy 6:10-12
New International Version (NIV)
10 When the Lord your God brings you into the land he swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, to give you—a land with large, flourishing cities you did not build, 11 houses filled with all kinds of good things you did not provide, wells you did not dig, and vineyards and olive groves you did not plant—then when you eat and are satisfied, 12 be careful that you do not forget the Lord, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.

Proverbs 19:14
Houses and wealth are inherited from parents, but a prudent wife is from the Lord.

Isaiah 65:21-22
21 They will build houses and dwell in them;
    they will plant vineyards and eat their fruit.
22 No longer will they build houses and others live in them,
    or plant and others eat.
For as the days of a tree,
    so will be the days of my people;
my chosen ones will long enjoy
    the work of their hands.
