The Rock won't move....

The Rock won't move.....

Right now, because of previous fires and now torrential much needed rain Southern California is experiencing rock and mudslides...rocks, mud sliding down the mountains into roads, houses, yards, a mucky mess...destructive quagmire......other places mountainsides of snow are breaking off,no thundering down on top of skiers, homes, roads ....carrying trees, rocks, ice down, down, down....

While in the lives of countless people, the mountains of emotion, depression, tiredness, grief, anger, self, is plummeting them into the valleys of despair for countless reasons...as destructive or more so as the ravages of mudslides or avalanches of snow...

The picture of Christian came to mind from Pilgrims Progress, carrying the huge bag upon his back of burdens...Ever moving, carrying the weight til finally letting it go...to the solid Rock ....who was there all the time...the unmoving Rock...The Lord...delivering him from the burden....which we all carry until we , too , hand it over to the Rock, the fortress, the Deliverer...who waits, not moving downward as mudslides or avalanches, but standing solid on a firm unmoving foundation....

Thank YOU for a solid foundation.... A Rock in which to put our trust....not carried away by anything...

Job 33:28
God has delivered me from going down to the pit, and I shall live to enjoy the light of life.’

Psalm 18:2
The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

Psalm 40:2
He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.

Psalm 69:15
Do not let the floodwaters engulf me or the depths swallow me up or the pit close its mouth over me.

Song, "the Rock won't move" by Vertical Church Band

When the ground beneath my feet gives way
And I hear the sound of crashing waves
All my world is washing out to sea.

I made it safe in the God who never moves
Holding fast to the promise of Your truth
You are holding tighter still to me.

Chorus:
Oh, the Rock won't move and His word is strong
The Rock won't move and His love can't be undone (x2)
The Rock of our salvation

My hope is in the promise of Your blood
My support within the raging flood
Even in the tempest, I can see

I made it safe in the God who never moves
Holding fast to the promise of Your truth
You are holding tighter still to me.

Chorus:
The Rock won't move and His word is strong
The Rock won't move and His love can't be undone (x2)
The Rock of our salvation

Whoa, whoa, whoa
The Rock of our salvation

(Repeat: 2x)
On Christ the solid rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand
The Rock won't move (2x)

And when darkness seems to hide His face
I rest on His unchanging grace.
The Rock won't move
No, the Rock won't move

Repeat (4x)
The Rock won't move and His word is strong
The Rock won't move and His love can't be undone (2x)
The Rock of our salvation

Whoa, whoa, whoa
The Rock of our salvation
The Rock of our salvation

Psalm 103

Of David.

1 Praise the Lord, my soul;
all my inmost being, praise his holy name.
2 Praise the Lord, my soul,
and forget not all his benefits—
3 who forgives all your sins
    and heals all your diseases,
4 who redeems your life from the pit
and crowns you with love and compassion,
5 who satisfies your desires with good things
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
6 The Lord works righteousness
and justice for all the oppressed.
7 He made known his ways to Moses,
his deeds to the people of Israel:
8 The Lord is compassionate and gracious,
slow to anger, abounding in love.
9 He will not always accuse,
    nor will he harbor his anger forever;
10 he does not treat us as our sins deserve
or repay us according to our iniquities.
11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
    so great is his love for those who fear him;
12 as far as the east is from the west,
so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
13 As a father has compassion on his children,
    so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him;
14 for he knows how we are formed,
he remembers that we are dust.
15 The life of mortals is like grass,
    they flourish like a flower of the field;
16 the wind blows over it and it is gone,
and its place remembers it no more.
17 But from everlasting to everlasting
the Lord’s love is with those who fear him,
and his righteousness with their children’s children—
18 with those who keep his covenant
and remember to obey his precepts.
19 The Lord has established his throne in heaven,
and his kingdom rules over all.
20 Praise the Lord, you his angels,
you mighty ones who do his bidding,
    who obey his word.
21 Praise the Lord, all his heavenly hosts,
you his servants who do his will.
22 Praise the Lord, all his works
    everywhere in his dominion.
Praise the Lord, my soul.
