Tug a war….Psalms 106, 107…
Maybe some don’t have this problem…a tug a war of emotions, allegiance, thoughts, will…going from what is wrong to what is right….back and forth…wanting my way versus what is God’s way…slow to fast and back again…balance to unbalanced…
That’s what the 106 and 107 Psalms feel like to me…
106 starts and ends with “Praise the Lord”, but relates how the Israelites go from following His way to their way and back again…over and over…a litany of “they did this or that” , or “then they”, forgetting God, not following His directions…while “many times he delivered them” from their bad decisions…
Coming back to…
Nevertheless, he looked upon their distress, when he heard their cry.
For their sake he remembered his covenant, and relented according to the abundance of his steadfast love.
Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting!
And let all the people say, “Amen!”Praise the Lord!
Ps.106.44-45,48
Oh, how fickle we are…
107, follows a similar pattern…but starts with…
Let the Redeemed of the Lord Say So!
Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever!
Let the redeemed of the Lord say so,whom he has redeemed from trouble and gathered in from the lands, from the east and from the west, from the north and from the south.
Some wandered in desert wastes, finding no way to a city to dwell in; hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted within them.
Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress. He led them by a straight way till they reached a city to dwell in.
Psalm 107:1-7
Repeating this phrase.. over and over…
Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love, for his wondrous works to the children of man!
For he satisfies the longing soul, and the hungry soul he fills with good things.
Psalm 107:8-9
Ending with…
Whoever is wise, let him attend to these things;let them consider the steadfast love of the Lord.
Ps.107.43
Listen, attend, consider…meditate, contemplate…and then what will you do with them….
Whom do we choose? Whom do we rely upon? Who shows his steadfast love? Who redeems? Whom do we praise? Who or what holds our hearts?
Thank YOU….
