Change 4…..continued 6…
I saved the best until the last…
But, first Eutychus…a young to whom many can relate…falling asleep during a sermon…
One of my friends in high school was watching a movie during one of his classes…fell asleep, and as his head slipped off of his hand, his head hit the “ projector “ and moved the whole movie off the screen…rude awakening…woke up the whole class…
For Eutychus, he was sitting in the open window, air filled with the smoky lamp oil fumes, a long-winded orator, late at night… a prescription for falling asleep…falls three stories to the hard cobblestones below…lives to tell his tale…as well as the other listeners that night could tell their tale of the young life was saved…
Eutychus…
On the first day of the week, when we were gathered together to break bread, Paul talked with them, intending to depart on the next day, and he prolonged his speech until midnight. There were many lamps in the upper room where we were gathered. And a young man named Eutychus, sitting at the window, sank into a deep sleep as Paul talked still longer. And being overcome by sleep, he fell down from the third story and was taken up dead. But Paul went down and bent over him, and taking him in his arms, said, “Do not be alarmed, for his life is in him.” And when Paul had gone up and had broken bread and eaten, he conversed with them a long while, until daybreak, and so departed. And they took the youth away alive, and were not a little comforted.
Acts.20.7-12

Drum roll….
Jesus….
Which brings us to Jesus….this young man we follow from birth to death and beyond…He came to change the world, not be changed by circumstances…He came with a plan that was spoken of in Genesis…He came with a purpose that involves all of mankind…He was prophesied about for thousands of years…He was there at the beginning…
“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”
Rev.1.8
For to us a child is born,to us a son is given;and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end,on the throne of David and over his kingdom,to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this.
Isa.9.6-7
For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”
Luke.19.10
He came that we might change, be transformed…that we could have a Savior, a Redeemer…have eternal life…
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
John.3.16-17
And finally…a change imperishable….because of Jesus…
Behold! I tell you a mystery.
We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet.
For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed.
For this perishable body must put on the imperishable, and this mortal body must put on immortality.
When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written:
“Death is swallowed up in victory.” “O death, where is your victory?O death, where is your sting?”
The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.
1Cor.15.51-58
Thank YOU….
Oh come, let us sing to the Lord;let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation!
Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving;let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!
For the Lord is a great God,and a great King above all gods. In his hand are the depths of the earth;the heights of the mountains are his also.
The sea is his, for he made it,and his hands formed the dry land. Oh come, let us worship and bow down;let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker!
