Pruning Instructions
Following simple fruit tree pruning instructions will ensure your fruit trees enjoy good health, disease management, and better fruit yield.
By pruning your fruit trees, you stimulate shoot growth, control the size and shape of the tree, and improve the quality of the fruit.
If you have not pruned before, don't worry! It is not difficult, and you'll get a real feel for how to prune fruit trees the more you work at it. And it's worth every minute!"
As I was walking yesterday, I was looking at the various trees in the area...I have mostly fruit trees in my yard that I chose.. And some oak trees that were planted when I was packing to move...In the neighborhood, and near the streets there are lots of flowering plum or cherry trees as well as lots of oak and other unnamed trees....some of the home owners are vigilant in keeping the trees pruned and others, not so much...you may get your hat stolen by a branch if you aren't paying attention or swiped in the face or at certain times gooey, sticky shoes...
This year, my trees have been in the ground three years already.....it looks like this year is time for a good pruning job...so I have been looking up how to do it..when the weather is warmer.. I want them to be short enough to harvest, and not knocking off anyone's hat as well as fruitful when that time comes...to be healthy and grow well....not full of suckers or unproductive limbs...in other words, the same desires that my Pruner has for me...I want the best for these trees..and pruning helps...just as God wants the best for me...
Pruning hurts..I've found...there are places that need to heal...but the outcome is a better yield and life...for both myself and these trees...and I might even hear myself ask, "does that really need to be pruned?" Or could we just put it off?
But, I am reminded that pruning is for the betterment of the tree and me....
Thank YOU, God for your pruning, even in times that I really don't like it...You are the Master Pruner...knowing exactly which things need pruning ....what the expected yield is....the growth desired....
John 15:1-9 “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples. “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love.
John 15 Amplified Bible (AMP)
15 I am the True Vine, and My Father is the Vinedresser.
2 Any branch in Me that does not bear fruit [that stops bearing] He cuts away (trims off, takes away); and He cleanses and repeatedly prunes every branch that continues to bear fruit, to make it bear more and richer and more excellent fruit.
3 You are cleansed and pruned already, because of the word which I have given you [the teachings I have discussed with you].
4 Dwell in Me, and I will dwell in you. [Live in Me, and I will live in you.] Just as no branch can bear fruit of itself without abiding in (being vitally united to) the vine, neither can you bear fruit unless you abide in Me.
5 I am the Vine; you are the branches. Whoever lives in Me and I in him bears much (abundant) fruit. However, apart from Me [cut off from vital union with Me] you can do nothing.
6 If a person does not dwell in Me, he is thrown out like a [broken-off] branch, and withers; such branches are gathered up and thrown into the fire, and they are burned.
7 If you live in Me [abide vitally united to Me] and My words remain in you and continue to live in your hearts, ask whatever you will, and it shall be done for you.
8 When you bear (produce) much fruit, My Father is honored and glorified, and you show and prove yourselves to be true followers of Mine.
9 I have loved you, [just] as the Father has loved Me; abide in My love continue in His love with Me].
