Lamoille canyon....

Lamoille Canyon.....
February 1 Jesus Calling

Follow Me one step at a time. That is all I require of you. In fact, that is the only way to move through this space/time world. You see huge mountains looming, and you start wondering how you’re going to scale those heights. Meanwhile, because you’re not looking where you’re going, you stumble on the easy path where I am leading you now. As I help you get back on your feet, you tell Me how worried you are about the cliffs up ahead. But you don’t know what will happen today, much less tomorrow. Our path may take an abrupt turn, leading you away from those mountains. There may be an easier way up the mountains than is visible from this distance. If I do lead you up the cliffs, I will equip you thoroughly for that strenuous climb. I will even give My angels charge over you, to preserve you in all your ways.
Keep your mind on the present journey, enjoying My Presence. Walk by faith, not by sight, trusting Me to open up the way before you.
With your help I can advance against a troop; with my God I can scale a wall.
—Psalm 18:29
For He will give His angels [especial] charge over you to accompany and defend and preserve you in all your ways [of obedience and service]. They shall bear you up on their hands, lest you dash your foot against a stone.
—Psalm 91:11–12 amp
For we walk by faith, not by sight.
—2 Corinthians 5:7 nkjv

Until three years ago, we lived near, within sight of the Ruby Mountains, the "alps" of the US. One of our homes faced toward them with 60 feet of windows viewing their rugged majesty which rose another five thousand feet above us...every season a different view....

There was a road that wound up one of the canyons, Lamoille canyon, with camping and picnic areas...with hiking trails exiting off of different spots, wild mountain goats running around the craggy heights, creeks running down the mountain to feed the pastures below...

Our family as well as thousands of others would visit this canyon regularly...we would meet friends for an afternoon or evening meal at one of the picnic areas, wade in the creek, pan for garnets, watch for beaver, climb some of the trails, pick wild berries,  spy out the mountain goats at various times of the year...my husband would take his skis to ski on the Fourth of July on patches of muddy snow...our son went to Klondike scout camp and we went to church camp up there...as well as a yearly church service....

What fun...it seems that whenever we had company and time allowed, we would end up there in the mountains, maybe just to show others there was more to Nevada than freeways across miles of sage brush and casinos....to enjoy the fresh mountain air...

When I return, I have to make the pilgrimage up the canyon to think of times past, to take another picture, to look toward the mountains, remembering Psalm  121...

Thank YOU for Your wonderful creation...the majesty of the mountains, the coolness of the mountain streams, the snow, the rainbows, the wildlife, the rugged rocky cliffs, snowy waterfalls, and brilliant spring flowers...and so much more...YOU delighted our family with so much...

Psalm 121:1-2 I lift up my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.

Psalm 104:18a The high mountains belong to the wild goats.....

Genesis 49:26a Your father’s blessings are greater than the blessings of the ancient mountains, than the bounty of the age-old hills.....

Psalm 36:6a Your righteousness is like the highest mountains......

Psalm 104:10 He makes springs pour water into the ravines; it flows between the mountains.
