"Vacations"

"Vacations"....

Just reading again in Jay Payleitner's book, "What if God wrote Your Bucket List?"....

Today's selection was "redefine vacation". We are driving mile after mile through majestic mountains southeast of Anchorage. Today we travel to Denali National Park, another 6+ hours, spend all day tomorrow in the park, drive back to Anchorage, fly out early the next day....don't sound like much of a "vacation".... My joints are starting to ache from sitting so much and it is getting harder to get in and out of the van...

Oh, but the joys of it all.   The new views, the laughter of friends, the shared experiences, the fresh fish dinners, the magnificence of the mountains, the rivers, the moose along the way add to the "vacation", the enjoyment of God's creation....these far out weigh the aching joints and short nights...the pictures over which we can reminisce and share...thank YOU for breaks in our routine, for giving us "rest" along the way...intersecting our paths for new adventures...

It is useless for you to work so hard from early morning until late at night, anxiously working for food to eat; for God gives rest to his loved ones.
Psalm 127:2

Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth, burst into jubilant song with music; make music to the Lord with the harp, with the harp and the sound of singing, with trumpets and the blast of the ram’s horn —
shout for joy before the Lord, the King. Let the sea resound, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.
Let the rivers clap their hands, let the mountains sing together for joy; let them sing before the Lord, for he comes to judge the earth.
He will judge the world in righteousness and the peoples with equity.
Psalm 98:4-9
