Flat Top overlook...
Near Anchorage, Alaska, there is an overlook called Flat Top. You drive up and up the road to reach this big flat area...the mountains rise behind it into the clouds.
If you can stand in the wind, one looks out over the valley where the city sits, the thousands of homes and businesses, the ocean which borders it, the fertile plains beyond, the rivers which flow by, the airport, the port...the panorama is spectacular. It feels like you are on a pinnacle looking down on the world below, until you turn around and the rugged snow covered mountains still rise high above...majestic....
How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, “Your God reigns!”
Isaiah 52:7
You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands.
Isaiah 55:12
In 1964, All of this shook with an earthquake that destroyed part of the town, sending tsunami waves thousands of miles away...as majestic and big as the mountains and valleys are, they are nothing in the power of the Almighty God who created them in the first place....His Words spoke them into place...
Thank YOU for the beauty, the creation....but thank YOU that you care enough to send Your Word forth the the people in the mountains and valleys of the whole earth... That is majestic....it is everlasting ....
