Stormy weather...

Stormy weather....

(Just remembered as I wrote the title that my first and only horse was named, Stormy Weather, as she was born on a very stormy day...) she was a fun horse....

That aside...yesterday I flew from my home to Anchorage, Alaska..I started in the warm sunshine, cloudless blue sky traveling further north into more and more clouds until, the rain was pouring so much, it looked like a foggy day with much moisture...and more is predicted during the coming week of this adventure...

It reminded me of going to the doctors for a checkup and finding out things weren't so bright...and the future may hold some bad weather or other comparisons...

Or further, I remembered when my husband was having "back" problems...going from one Doctor to another only to get the diagnosis that it wasn't  back problems at all, but a stage 4 terminal brain cancer...that was really a stormy time...from sunshine to storm quickly...how drastically our lives changed...it seemed each day brought new storms...new forecasts...until it was flooding all around...

We reminded over and over during this stormy time of the faithfulness of friends, family, the community of believers all over the world...and most of all, God Himself, His peace and comfort...his promises...thank YOU...

the flood would have engulfed us, the torrent would have swept over us, the raging waters would have swept us away.
Our help is in the name of the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.
Psalm 124:4-5,8

when calamity overtakes you like a storm, when disaster sweeps over you like a whirlwind, when distress and trouble overwhelm you.
but whoever listens to me will live in safety and be at ease, without fear of harm.”
Proverbs 1:27,33

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior;
Isaiah 43:2-3a

Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him. Suddenly a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!” He replied, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm. The men were amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!”
Matthew 8:23-27
