Denali....
(What we saw)
Rising early, I caught a 6:55 tour bus to take an eight hour trip going 62 miles into Denali national park. (Rising early is a misnomer, is never got dark, light all night, so it wasn't like we got up in the dead of "night")....
The trip was a stop and go trip, with sightings of bears, frolicking baby foxes, squirrels, caribou, moose, Dall sheep...this was interspersed with bathroom breaks, and stops to view the snow capped mountains, braided rivers, the colorful rock formations, slow one lane narrow roads hugging the steep terrain....
We arrived at the turn around where one supposedly can see the Denali mountain rise into the sky...that was not the view for the day. But, the tour driver described it for us, so that we could go to the bookstore upon our return to buy the appropriate postcard with that view to add to our collection...believing and taking his word that it really was there behind the clouds and rain...( I have heard that only 30% of the sightseers actually see the whole mountain!)
It reminded me of the faith chapter in the book Hebrews...or our robes of righteousness that God sees us with...it took a lot of faith to actually "see" that mountain rising to 20,000 plus feet into the sky...I know it is there, but I couldn't actually see it yesterday ...
There are times when I question what is happening or go through events in life that are really for my good...I have to rely in that faith that God is really doing a good thing or sometimes that He is really in control...I have to retreat into my "picture" book and listen to His description of truth ...knowing that He knows what is really happening...He is truth ...just as the tour guide was describing a mountain we couldn't see...but we have a representation to look at...to read about...to rely upon....
God gave us Himself in Jesus ...God in man form...truth manifested...thank YOU that you are really there even in times we don't "see" You....
Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. This is what the ancients were commended for. By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible. .....These were all commended for their faith, yet none of them received what had been promised, since God had planned something better for us so that only together with us would they be made perfect.
Hebrews 11:1-3.....39-40
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
Romans 8:28
30 I and the Father are one.”
John 10:30
Denali, the mountain we didn't see, but knew was there...
