Quilting....
Yesterday I went to the trade show for the quilting week here in central Oregon. So many different products, techniques, fabrics, ideas, kits, people....and that was just at one place....
Over the years I have created and constructed several quilts of various designs, some my own and others from patterns. Both of my grandmothers quilted, both out of necessity and pleasure...using scraps of fabric...they all turned out completely different, no two alike ....
One year in women's ministry, the whole theme was quilting. Putting a variety of people together to make a whole unit which In turn made a beautiful picture...like a round Robbin quilt, each leader added themselves and their group to the whole...until the end of the year, there was praise for the whole season of learning, growing.....it started with a few leaders at the center, each week added another lesson/layer around that center as we were building outward, adding life lessons/patterns to the center ....at the end, there was a completed year of lessons/ beauty for us all....a quilt of many fabrics/colors/designs in our lives....each person/group adding to the finished product....
...although the quilt of our lives is not finished until we reach heaven....maybe then we will see and understand why different fabrics/designs/lessons were used in our lives to make the whole creation....the why of this or that....or will we care when all we will see is God's glory...
God gave directions throughout His word for designs, from the very beginning, "let Us make..." Until the end, each nuance has a design in mind...a pattern, a meaning, a picture...to make the whole meaningful...a quilt of sorts, pieces put together for a finished product...
He uses circumstances, His Word, people, life, everything to make the whole....He has directions from the building of the ark, the tabernacle, our lives, to the building of heaven, to the fabric of our lives...it all goes together and He is the ultimate designer...
Thank YOU, the designer, creator of Everything....help me to be a piece of your design that adds and not detracts for the beauty of your design...the quilt to life....
