Yesterday I woke up to no water...
Now, I really like the convenience of running water....I admit that i am spoiled. We have camped where there is no water, or been places in the world that water is a luxury, one such place used their water six times before it was thrown out.....they had to pay for a liter at a time .......
We here in America are blessed with usually clean, clear water which comes to us the moment we turn on the faucet.....so it comes as surprise when the the water doesn't come when we want it....there is no anticipation with water.....
This is the season of anticipation....Christmas....we long to put up our trees, purchase, wrap and open our presents.....listen to Christmas music....go to Christmas bazaars....create gifts,...surprises......look at lights or light our own places...watch Christmas movies or specials....bake and eat cookies or special Christmas treats.....
Anticipation......
The world, over two thousand years ago was anticipating as well......some had no clue they were anticipating anything....but they were....wise men were watching stars for a sign that something spectacular was happening or happened...a culture/nation of people were waiting for a Saviour to come and rescue them from their oppressors, not realizing that this Saviour was coming not to put down the government but to rescue the world from sin....no matter what government....
This Saviour was coming to a particular family/lineage, to a particular town for a particular reason....salvation....God's promise fulfilled....the very Word himself....not in the form of a tremendous charismatic leader to sweep everyone off their feet but a servant to teach servant hood, a life style...salvation...
Anticipation....
A baby laid in a manger...whom the angels sang about, the shepherds sought, the parents loved, the king searched, the wiseman came from afar, protected by dreams and direction,....prophesied /foretold.....the worlds' Saviour....Jesus Christ, God with us....
Thank YOU that you moved the world to have this baby, so special, to be born according to Your word....anticipated by the world...that we can, but ask and receive our much needed salvation, eternal life...that we have the recorded Word, the HOly Spirit, You as our Father....who knows us, loves us beyond measure....
Luke 1-2
