A bit of history…

 A bit of history…

I grew up in the church…attending since I can remember…basically the only real time I didn’t attend diligently was in college as I had no way to get there, or so I thought…but, God still kept me…

After we got married, my husband and I were back in church, searching for the right fit…finding that in a small church in the small town where we lived…the church had its roots in the American Missionary fellowship…whose roots go way back to founding children and adult Sunday Schools in the 1700’s with itinerate Pastors…

My first Women’s Bible study was lead by a woman whose life, with her Pastor husband, was teaching in various small towns in rural Nevada…we finally hired a permanent pastor and that fellowship is still going 50 years later…

One of the first books, I studied was James…and then on through the whole Bible with many pastors, many women’s groups and many on my own, plus a stint with online Seminary…

I liked and still like the book of James…it is simple, forthright like the Book of Proverbs…speaking clearly to all, just as the whole Word does….

So looking for Wisdom? James and Solomon tell us…

Who is wise and understanding among you?

Let them show it by their good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom.

But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth.

Such “wisdom” does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic.

For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice.

But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.

Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness.

Jas.3.13-18

 My son, if you receive my wordsand treasure up my commandments with you, making your ear attentive to wisdomand inclining your heart to understanding;

yes, if you call out for insightand raise your voice for understanding,

if you seek it like silverand search for it as for hidden treasures, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom;

from his mouth come knowledge and understanding;

he stores up sound wisdom for the upright;he is a shield to those who walk in integrity, guarding the paths of justice and watching over the way of his saints.

Then you will understand righteousness and justice and equity, every good path;

for wisdom will come into your heart,

and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul;

discretion will watch over you,understanding will guard you, delivering you from the way of evil,

from men of perverted speech,

who forsake the paths of uprightnessto walk in the ways of darkness,

who rejoice in doing eviland delight in the perverseness of evil, men whose paths are crooked,

and who are devious in their ways.

Prov.2.1-15

Thank YOU…

The perfect wisdom of God…
