 Emotions….

Reading through the book of Acts, it is interesting to see all of the emotions that Luke describes of various people…

Sometimes we tend to put the Bible on the shelf of “not relevant” or “doesn’t pertain to modern day “…. But those people whom Luke wrote about lived just like we so now…they had the same emotions, same reactions we do now and throughout the ages, past, present and future…

They lied, conspired, tested, feared,shared, were filled with jealousy, accused, rejoiced, they gave, proclaimed good and bad, devoted themselves to teachings and scriptures, healed, spoke, seized, prayed, complained, killed, punished, stoned, bribed, obeyed, spoke truth, breathed out murderous threats, wondered, were persecuted, quarreled….and so on…they lived …they had the same nature that is shown from the beginning man and woman to present…

There were those who fit one of the Galatians’ list…

 For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do. 

But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. 

Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. 

I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Gal.5.17-21

There others who fit the other Galatians’ list…

 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. 

And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 

If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit. 

Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.

Gal.5.22-26

Over time, there have been tries at utopian societies, cultures of kindness, but the same sin nature, the same temptations have still been there and have beset the best of tries…we can’t do it on our own…

We haven’t really gotten any better, the same lists can describe us…the only way for any to make a change for the good is through the indwelling Holy Spirit…our obedience to His counsel…
