Unexpected hospitality…

 Unexpected hospitality….

I am being hosted by one of my daughters in the Portland area of Oregon…it is not unexpected…she and her husband are amazing hosts as are all of my children, amazing cooks, amazing people, amazing supporters…each talented and gifted differently…they are all wonderful and I love them so much…

While here we have visited one of the ministries they have been involved in, Lahash…which supports children in Africa…we came to the coast of Oregon, plus seeing various sites, will be working at a local donkey refuge…

It was not all a easy road for my children to get to adulthood…and there are still some bumps sometimes…there has been anger, rebellion, threats, some time-outs from one another…but through it all, God has been faithful…

I was reading about David this am…his 23rd Psalm…preparing a table in the midst of enemies…he had first hand experience with that…it was not just an idea for him…

He was fleeing from his own son, Absalom…taking others with…those who wanted to take his life…weary from fleeing, brokenhearted from anguish that his own son was against him…just weary…and three men bring food, water, beds to him and his followers in the wilderness…

What a picture…God’s provision in the wilderness in the midst of enemies…others to be hospitable during trying times…during weariness…

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;you anoint my head with oil;my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Ps.23.5-6

When David came to Mahanaim, Shobi the son of Nahash from Rabbah of the Ammonites, and Machir the son of Ammiel from Lo-debar, and Barzillai the Gileadite from Rogelim, brought beds, basins, and earthen vessels, wheat, barley, flour, parched grain, beans and lentils, honey and curds and sheep and cheese from the herd, for David and the people with him to eat, for they said, “The people are hungry and weary and thirsty in the wilderness.”

2Sam.17:27-2

Most of us experience trying times and have gone through deserts when we feel so weary, so afraid, so downtrodden or we know others who are going through them….God is there with us/them…supplying  our needs…we can supply others with a cup of water, food, beds,…encouragement…support..prayer..

Thank YOU …

Trust in the Lord, and do good;dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness. Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord;trust in him, and he will act.

Ps.37.3-5

Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality.

Rom.12.13

Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.

Heb.13.2

Show hospitality to one another without grumbling. As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace:

1Pet.4.9-10

The native people showed us unusual kindness, for they kindled a fire and welcomed us all, because it had begun to rain and was cold.

Now in the neighborhood of that place were lands belonging to the chief man of the island, named Publius, who received us and entertained us hospitably for three days.

They also honored us greatly, and when we were about to sail, they put on board whatever we needed.

Acts.28.2,7,10
