A strong tower…

 A strong tower…

Yesterday found us winding along the old Hwy 30 from Troutdale, Oregon, finishing at the Bonneville Fish Hatchery…weather was shirtsleeve warm and sunny, clear, beautiful….

One of our stops was Crown Point with the Vista House, build over a hundred years ago…sitting on a basalt point high above the Columbia river…

The last time I was there in 2010, it was literally ice cold with ice covering the steps, handrails and the building was buttoned up tightly…this time, sunny and warm, soft silent foggy mist flowing in and out, everything open for viewing and things for purchase…photography abounding….

Built as a stopping spot, a memorial to the hard work of the highway construction, and Oregon pioneers… Vista point is seen for miles around…

I thought of the towers spoken of the Bible… built in fields, hills for property owners to watch their fields, watch for enemies approaching…

Solomon calls “the name of the Lord a strong tower”…

David calls God his rock, strength, fortress, shield, deliverer, shield, stronghold, refuge…a place of safety …

We each have the tower, that refuge, that name to call upon just as men of old did…time has not weakened it, the winds of adversity has not changed it…it need no repairs as the Point has needed over the years…He Stands fast…solid…timeless…

Thank YOU….

The name of the Lord is a strong tower;the righteous man runs into it and is safe.

Prov.18.10

I love you, O Lord, my strength.

The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer,my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge,my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

I call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised, and I am saved from my enemies.

Ps.18.1-3
