Wedding flowers…getting prepared…

Wedding flowers…..getting prepared….

Years ago I asked a woman who specialized in flowers for weddings if I could apprentice under her. I only had one child at home at the time, the others had grown and left…and I loved flowers.

So began a half year of learning from an expert…and she was amazing and so very kind to let me work with her on some beautiful weddings…I then went to a floral design school in Portland for their course in floristry, taking a crash course day and night as I stayed in a motel during the week and going home for the weekends…

Finally, I worked in a floral shop for several years as well as coordinating weddings with a friend and solo for a few more years…doing weddings for friends over the years (an act of love for all)…I even got to design flowers for one of my daughters…all so fun…and this last year I got to design flowers for my oldest grandson’s wedding …now working on my oldest granddaughter’s spring wedding….what a privilege and honor…

The fragrance of fresh flowers is wonderful…or working with silk flowers ahead of time has its advantages….both are a blessing…I am so glad God made so many colors, so many fragrances…such a delight to the senses…

There is a lot of behind-the-scene preparation for either real or silk flowers just as with the wedding itself…prep by both the parents of the groom and bride…places to wed, people to invite, food to eat, cake to share, clothing, vows to write, traveling and accommodations to reserve, music to use….plus counseling for the couple…

Apparently the families in the Wedding at Cana hadn’t procured enough beverages for their wedding…coming up short on the wine…they weren’t as prepared as they needed…

On the third day there was a wedding at Cana in Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. Jesus also was invited to the wedding with his disciples.

When the wine ran out, the mother of Jesus said to him, “They have no wine.” And Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does this have to do with me? My hour has not yet come.”

His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.”

Now there were six stone water jars there for the Jewish rites of purification, each holding twenty or thirty gallons.

Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water.” And they filled them up to the brim.

And he said to them, “Now draw some out and take it to the master of the feast.” So they took it.

When the master of the feast tasted the water now become wine, and did not know where it came from (though the servants who had drawn the water knew), the master of the feast called the bridegroom and said to him, “Everyone serves the good wine first, and when people have drunk freely, then the poor wine.

But you have kept the good wine until now.” This, the first of his signs, Jesus did at Cana in Galilee, and manifested his glory. And his disciples believed in him.

John.2.1-11

Mary, volunteers her son to take care of the problem, she knows he will do the right thing…and he did…turning the water into the “good wine” …his first sign, manifesting his glory…the first of many…

The Bible speaks of Jesus as the Groom and the church, His Bride…and we are being prepared for a wedding feast like no other…as He prepares a home like no other for his followers…those who have put their trust in Him…

I am not sure if flowers are part of the ceremony or not, but we can only imagine…

Thank YOU…

Revelation 19:7 (ESV)

Let us rejoice and exult and give him the glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his Bride has made herself ready;

Revelation 21:2 (ESV)

And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

Revelation 21:9 (ESV)

Then came one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues and spoke to me, saying, “Come, I will show you the Bride, the wife of the Lamb.”

Revelation 22:17 (ESV)

The Spirit and the Bride say, “Come.” And let the one who hears say, “Come.” And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who desires take the water of life without price.
