Where could I go but to The Lord ....
Listening to the Gaither concert the other night was fun and inspiring...they are people just like everyone else...with lives, trials, disappointments, joys just like everyone else. Theirs is just more out front for all to see.
One of the opening songs was an older song, which goes as follows;
Living below in this old sinful world
Hardly a comfort can afford
Striving alone to face temptations sore
Where could I go but to the Lord?
Where could I go? oh, where could I go>
Seeking a refuge for my soul
Needing a friend to save me in the end
Where could I go but to the Lord?
Neighbors are kind, I love them everyone
We get along in sweet accord
But when my soul needs manna from above
Where could I go but to the lord?
Where could I go> oh, where could I go?
Seeking a refuge for my soul
Needing a friend to save me in the end
Where could I go but to the Lord?
Life here is grand with friends I love so dear
Comfort I get from God's own Word
Yet when I face the chilling hand of death
Where could I go but to the Lord?
Where could I go? oh, where could I go?
Seeking a refuge for my soul
Needing a friend to save me in the end
Where could I go but to the Lord?
The words and music to "Where Could I Go But To The Lord?" are by J.B Coats.
It has been sung over the years, even by Elvis Presley, so it is not new....nor are the meanings or its message....
While on this road trip, we have met with a multitude of people whose lives have been thrown into turmoil for various reasons, death, cancer, loss, changes of all kinds...some have dug their lives deeper into God's loving embrace, knowing that He alone is the great comforter, the refuge for their souls, the fortress for their lives...the only true Saviour in the end....
The great Bible personalities, Abraham , David, Paul and on down through pages and ages have come to the same conclusion...Where could I go but to The Lord.....
Thank YOU that you are there for all to seek and find refuge in......
Psalm 18:2
The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
Jeremiah 8:18 You who are my Comforter in sorrow, my heart is faint within me.
Psalm 119:28 My soul is weary with sorrow; strengthen me according to your word.
Psalm 25:15 My eyes are ever on the Lord, for only he will release my feet from the snare.
