Trash or treasure ....

Trash or treasure......

We have heard over the years, "one man's trash is another man's treasure "

After sorting through three people's treasures in four years, I find that true, frustrating, encouraging....enlightening......what we keep as treasures is amazing, historical, funny, emotional....

I have boxes and boxes of my mother's paintings, my dad's mementoes, my husband's treasures, papers...some paintings have gone on eBay, as well as books, paint brushes,
Cars have been sold or given away...and have become someone else's treasures ...other things went to garage sales, thrift stores  and some into storage for another time...

Some people collect weapons, survival rations, angels, dolls, spoons, postcards, napkins,, posters, vintage clothing, golf balls, pencils....you name it.....

But, those are tangible things.....we have treasures of emotions, feelings, talents, personalities, souls ....as well.  We may have poured our hearts into our paintings, our writings, our endeavors, our sculpting,   other people....Things seen and unseen...treasures or trash....my emotions have been trashed over the years-sucker punched to my "esteem", my endeavors for Christ as well by those around me...but God keeps the tears and the real treasures of value....

What do we treasure?  What do we trash in our lives?  What has lasting treasure qualities...not to rust, or accumulate dust?

All of the stuff will disintegrate at some time.....but the treasures we hold in deposit with God will not...

Thank YOU for treasuring the real treasures...help me to keep the right perspective....trash or treasure.....

Deuteronomy 7:6 For you are a people holy to the Lord your God. The Lord your God has chosen you out of all the peoples on the face of the earth to be his people, his treasured possession.

Proverbs 15:6 The house of the righteous contains great treasure, but the income of the wicked brings ruin.

Matthew 6:19 [ Treasures in Heaven ] “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.
Matthew 6:20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.
Matthew 6:21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

2 Corinthians 4:6-8New International Version (NIV)
6 For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,”[a] made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ. 7 But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. 8 We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair

1 Timothy 6:19 In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.
