Wall of pictures….

 Wall of pictures….

I awaken to these pictures on a nearby bedroom wall each day…I like the variety of shapes and each has a special meaning to me personally…

1. The Gleaners…owned by one of my grandmothers.  I remember it hanging her home forever until I was blessed with it…she was this industrious woman who made something out of nothing it seemed…she had huge gardens, cooked her best pies in a wood burning stove…quilted…weathered adversity…and still had time to make presents for all her children and grandchildren…lived a full life until 92 years…a picture of one of my favorite Biblical stories…redemption, provision, compassion, family….

The Book of Ruth…

2. A painting by my mother of a bridge that has withstood floods,  earthquakes and time…built in 1910 over the Eel River, near Ferndale, California…I remember gauging the height of the flooding of the river by how high it was on the bridge…”When built, it was referred to as the "Queen of Bridges" and is still the longest functional poured concrete bridge in operation in the world “

Reminds me of my mother…her talents, her love, weathering the storms, God’s love, His strength and the Bridge  He provided through Christ…

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

John.14.6

3. A sunset in Hawaii…taken a friend’s wedding …one of many of God’s reflections…

When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

John.8.12

Yet I am writing you a new command; its truth is seen in him and in you, because the darkness is passing and the true light is already shining.

1John.2.8

4. The tiny hummingbird…the intricacies of creation, provision and how God planned for everything…nectar for the birds, bees and how everything has a purpose…

Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young—a place near your altar,Lord Almighty, my King and my God. Blessed are those who dwell in your house;they are ever praising you. Blessed are those whose strength is in you, whose hearts are set on pilgrimage.

Ps.84.3-5

Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.

Matt.10.29-31

Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?

Matt.6.26-27

5. Be Still and know that I am God…a reminder each day that God is in control…no matter what…no matter the world condition…no matter my condition…nothing is a surprise to Him…

He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;I will be exalted among the nations,I will be exalted in the earth.”

Ps.46.10

Thank YOU…

I know that I have written about these before…but, I personally needed the gentle reminder again that God is still in control through world events, personal health events…He is there providing, stability, compassion, His light….so much more…
