Remember when….
This video was in my “in “ box this am…this was part of my earliest memories. I thought this was how you did family Sundays…and as I got married and children came along, this was how we did Sundays as well…
Sundays in the 1950’s….

I remember when California began to allow businesses to be open on Sundays…how that began the change of the fabric of quiet Sundays….you could now shop any day of the week, people began working on Sundays and you had to ask to have Sundays off…or it just became another workday…nothing special or sacred about it anymore….
(My husband made the observation that he thought having a heating system other than the central wood stove is what drove families apart… with a wood stove as the main heat source families stayed together in one place as the rest of the house was too cold to go off on your own…away from family activities…)
After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb.
Matt.28.1
On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!”
After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord.
Again Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.”
And with that he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit.
John.20.19-22
On the first day of the week we came together to break bread. Paul spoke to the people and, because he intended to leave the next day, kept on talking until midnight.
Acts.20.7
On the first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with your income, saving it up, so that when I come no collections will have to be made.
1Cor.16.2
And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
Heb.10.24-25
We still can make those “50’s” Sundays special…those first days of the week, special…attending church, worshiping with fellow believers, learning, giving as we are lead, encouraging one another…
God has stayed the same…society has moved…
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
Heb.13.8
Thank YOU….
And crown Him Lord of all….
