And spices…

And spices…

Mark 16 has a bunch of “ands”….I can just picture writing this down or telling it quickly, out of breath, saying “and this happened and this happened, and this happened “…so excited to tell the story…just like my children would do after an adventure… and rightly so…

Jesus wasn’t in the tomb!!!

He didn’t need the fragrant spices for burial!!!

Jesus had risen!!!!

Just like the tenth verse in Psalm 16….he had no corruption / decay…nor would he ever…

When the Sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices, so that they might go and anoint him.

And very early on the first day of the week, when the sun had risen, they went to the tomb.

And they were saying to one another, “Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance of the tomb?”

And looking up, they saw that the stone had been rolled back—it was very large.

And entering the tomb, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, dressed in a white robe, and they were alarmed.

And he said to them, “Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has risen; he is not here. See the place where they laid him. But go, tell his disciples and Peter that he is going before you to Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you.”

And they went out and fled from the tomb, for trembling and astonishment had seized them,

and they said nothing to anyone, for they were afraid.

Mark.16.1-8

Preserve me, O God, for in you I take refuge.

I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord;I have no good apart from you.” As for the saints in the land, they are the excellent ones,in whom is all my delight.

The sorrows of those who run after another god shall multiply;their drink offerings of blood I will not pour outor take their names on my lips.

The Lord is my chosen portion and my cup;you hold my lot.

The lines have fallen for me in pleasant places;indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance.

I bless the Lord who gives me counsel;in the night also my heart instructs me.

I have set the Lord always before me;because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken.

Therefore my heart is glad, and my whole being rejoices;my flesh also dwells secure.

For you will not abandon my soul to Sheol,or let your holy one see corruption.

You make known to me the path of life;in your presence there is fullness of joy;at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

Ps.16.1-11

Jesus’ victory over death…for us…that believing, we might have that same victory…

Can we be that excited… to tell the story…”and this happened “

Not just an adventure, but a new life in Christ….

Thank YOU…
