Psalm 149….dancing and making melody…
I have a friend who serves as a missionary in an African nation, working with children of all ages….every once in a while, she sends videos of some party or celebration at this school or just an ordinary day, the children are dancing either in a group or just dancing around on their own…the dancing just exudes from their bodies and minds…like it can’t be stopped with or without music…the children’s smiles, radiant in joy, laughter as an accompaniment…they don’t need a lyre or tambourine…but am sure they would use it if they had it….
They have so little in comparison to here in the US, but they have joy….praise….dance…
“Praise the Lord!
Sing to the Lord a new song,his praise in the assembly of the godly!
Let Israel be glad in his Maker;
let the children of Zion rejoice in their King!
Let them praise his name with dancing,making melody to him with tambourine and lyre!
For the Lord takes pleasure in his people;
he adorns the humble with salvation.
Let the godly exult in glory;let them sing for joy on their beds.
Let the high praises of God be in their throats and two-edged swords in their hands,
to execute vengeance on the nations and punishments on the peoples,
to bind their kings with chains and their nobles with fetters of iron, to execute on them the judgment written!
This is honor for all his godly ones.
Praise the Lord!”
Ps.149.1-9
This song is a bit older but still rings true…I was awakened with it this morning….there are times when we don’t feel like dancing, times of struggle, shattered dreams, brokenness, etc…and we still admonished to “Praise the Lord…”
Thank YOU for the dancing times and the shattered times…even from our beds…

“Praise the Lord”
When you're up against a struggle That shatters all your dreams Your hope's been cruelly crushed By Satan's manifested scheme And you feel the urge within you To submit to earthly fears Don't let the faith your standing in Seem to disappear Praise the Lord He can work through those who praise Him Praise the Lord For our God inhabits praise Praise the Lord For the chains that seem to bind you Serve only to remind you That they drop powerless behind you When you praise Him Now Satan is a liar And he wants to make us think That we are paupers When he knows himself We're children of the King So lift up the mighty shield of faith For the battle must be won We know that Jesus Christ is risen So the works already done Praise the Lord He can work through those who praise Him Praise the Lord For our God inhabits praise Praise the Lord For the chains that seem to bind you Serve only to remind you That they drop powerless behind you When you praise Him Praise the Lord He can work through those who praise Him Praise the Lord For our God inhabits praise Praise the Lord For the chains that seem to bind you Serve only to remind you That they drop powerless behind you When you praise Him
