Change 4 ….continued…
Psalm 91…
As I looked at the list of young people, yesterday, I realized I needed to continue with their lives and expand a bit…how did they react, what was their pivotal moments…
Daniel…taken as a slave from Jerusalem to Babylon, educated for three years,
But Daniel resolved that he would not defile himself with the king's food, or with the wine that he drank. Therefore he asked the chief of the eunuchs to allow him not to defile himself. And God gave Daniel favor and compassion in the sight of the chief of the eunuchs, As for these four youths, God gave them learning and skill in all literature and wisdom, and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams. At the end of the time, when the king had commanded that they should be brought in, the chief of the eunuchs brought them in before Nebuchadnezzar. And the king spoke with them, and among all of them none was found like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah. Therefore they stood before the king. And in every matter of wisdom and understanding about which the king inquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchanters that were in all his kingdom. And Daniel was there until the first year of King Cyrus.

But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.” Then Samuel said to Jesse, “Are all your sons here?” And he said, “There remains yet the youngest, but behold, he is keeping the sheep.” And Samuel said to Jesse, “Send and get him, for we will not sit down till he comes here.” And he sent and brought him in. Now he was ruddy and had beautiful eyes and was handsome. And the Lord said, “Arise, anoint him, for this is he.” Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers. And the Spirit of the Lord rushed upon David from that day forward. And Samuel rose up and went to Ramah.

Not an easy journey to kingship, many bumps in the road before and after…but many blessings and promises from a faithful God…
Isaac…born in Abraham’s old age, a child of promise, taken for sacrifice, where God provided…
After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, “Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.” He said, “Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you.” So Abraham rose early in the morning, saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him, and his son Isaac. And he cut the wood for the burnt offering and arose and went to the place of which God had told him. On the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes and saw the place from afar. So Abraham called the name of that place, “The Lord will provide”; as it is said to this day, “On the mount of the Lord it shall be provided.” Abraham said, “God will provide for himself the lamb for a burnt offering, my son.” So they went both of them together. And the angel of the Lord called to Abraham a second time from heaven and said, “By myself I have sworn, declares the Lord, because you have done this and have not withheld your son, your only son, I will surely bless you, and I will surely multiply your offspring as the stars of heaven and as the sand that is on the seashore. And your offspring shall possess the gate of his enemies, and in your offspring shall all the nations of the earth be blessed, because you have obeyed my voice.”

But Joseph said to them, “Do not fear, for am I in the place of God? As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today. So do not fear; I will provide for you and your little ones.” Thus he comforted them and spoke kindly to them.

Psalm 91
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most Highwill abide in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress,my God, in whom I trust.”
For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowlerand from the deadly pestilence.
He will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge;his faithfulness is a shield and buckler.
You will not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor the destruction that wastes at noonday.
A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you.
You will only look with your eyesand see the recompense of the wicked.
Because you have made the Lord your dwelling place—the Most High, who is my refuge— no evil shall be allowed to befall you,no plague come near your tent.
For he will command his angels concerning youto guard you in all your ways.
On their hands they will bear you up,lest you strike your foot against a stone.
You will tread on the lion and the adder;the young lion and the serpent you will trample underfoot.
“Because he holds fast to me in love, I will deliver him;I will protect him, because he knows my name. When he calls to me, I will answer him;I will be with him in trouble;I will rescue him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.”
Ps.91.1-16
