Zeal…

Zeal…

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore.

The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this.

Isaiah 9:6-7 ESV

For to us a Child shall be born, to us a Son shall be given;

And the government shall be upon His shoulder, And His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

There shall be no end to the increase of His government and of peace, [He shall rule] on the throne of David and over his kingdom, To establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness From that time forward and forevermore.

The zeal of the Lord of hosts will accomplish this.

Isaiah 9:6-7 AMP

“Zeal

: a strong feeling of interest and enthusiasm that makes someone very eager or determined to do something..

: eagerness and ardent interest in pursuit of something : FERVOR

ZEAL implies energetic and unflagging pursuit of an aim or devotion to a cause.”

Merriam Webster

A simple four-letter word, zeal, packs a huge punch…is it not a passive or behind-the-scenes word…it is out there, moving …active…for humans…just think how it must be for God…it is used for wars, judgements, love, fulfilling prophecy…

When you look at the statement, “the zeal of the Lord of hosts will accomplish this”…you know He means business…this will be no matter what…nothing stopping Him…

Then I read the following in Romans…”never lacking zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord”…He wants that same zeal to characterize my life as well…moving, action, not passive…

Thank YOU ….

Love must be sincere.

Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.

Be devoted to one another in love.

Honor one another above yourselves.

Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.

Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.

Share with the Lord’s people who are in need.

Practice hospitality.

Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.

Live in harmony with one another.

Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position.

Do not be conceited.

Do not repay anyone evil for evil.

Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord.

On the contrary: “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink.

In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.”

Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Romans 12:9-21
