Glory of the Lord..

Glory of the Lord…

We have been blessed over the years to live in places that have magnificent sunrises and sunsets…plus we have visited places that had the same…where the colors are vivid both in front and behind us(you always look behind you to see if the colors are reflected in the sky).

As I was reading, the phrase, “glory of the Lord” stood out in the story of Jesus’ birth…shining  around the angels who came to proclaim Jesus’ birth to the shepherds…

“Glory….

: great beauty and splendor : MAGNIFICENCE…

: something marked by beauty or resplendence…

: the splendor and beatific happiness of heaven…” Merriam Webster

The glory of  the Lord is mentioned over 90 times throughout the Word…a few..

Now the appearance of the glory of the Lord was like a devouring fire on the top of the mountain in the sight of the people of Israel.

Exodus 24:17

Then the cloud covered the tent of meeting, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle.

And Moses was not able to enter the tent of meeting because the cloud settled on it, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle. Throughout all their journeys, whenever the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle, the people of Israel would set out.

But if the cloud was not taken up, then they did not set out till the day that it was taken up.

For the cloud of the Lord was on the tabernacle by day, and fire was in it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel throughout all their journeys.

Exodus 40:34-38

As soon as Solomon finished his prayer, fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices, and the glory of the Lord filled the temple.

2 Chronicles 7:1

May the glory of the Lord  endure forever; may the Lord  rejoice in his works,

Psalm 104:31

All the kings of the earth shall give you thanks, O Lord, for they have heard the words of your mouth, and they shall sing of the ways of the Lord, for great is the glory of the Lord .

Psalm 138:4-5

A voice cries: “In the wilderness prepare the way of the Lord; make straight in the desert a highway for our God.

Every valley shall be lifted up, and every mountain and hill be made low; the uneven ground shall become level, and the rough places a plain.

And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together, for the mouth of the Lord has spoken.”

Isaiah 40:3-5

As I looked, behold, a stormy wind came out of the north, and a great cloud, with brightness around it, and fire flashing forth continually, and in the midst of the fire, as it were gleaming metal….

Ezekiel 1:4+ (description of what Ezekiel saw)

And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with great fear.

Luke 2:9

And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord,  are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.

2 Corinthians 3:18

For this reason, because I have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love toward all the saints, I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory,

may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him,

having the eyes of your hearts enlightened,

that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints,

and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come.

And he put all things under his feet and gave him as head over all things to the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.

Ephesians 1:15-23

When looking this phase up, I was stuck with such awe over and over again..these all lead to that description of heaven when we shall not need the sun and moon for light but, God  himself shall be the light, His Glory will reign supreme…until we see for ourselves, descriptions will fail…and then we will know truly what the glory of the Lord is…thank YOU for glimpses of a much bigger picture and meaning…to You be the Glory…as You are the Glory…

And the city has no need of sun or moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and its lamp is the Lamb.

By its light will the nations walk, and the kings of the earth will bring their glory into it, And night will be no more.

They will need no light of lamp or sun, for the Lord God will be their light, and they will reign forever and ever.

Revelation 21:23-24,22:5
