Two masters....

Two masters....

My rabbit trail this morning...started in psalm 115, then it wandered to Matthew, Deuteronomy, and Joshua...
In the Psalm, He speaks first to the Israelites, then to the house of Aaron and finally to "you who fear him".... In two places ...which to my small finite mind means anyone who fears the Lord...

But, my rabbit trail went a little further on the map....with Joshua asking who the people  would choose...the gods or the God...

Or Moses asking the Israelites whom they would choose in an earlier time...

Or Jesus saying we can't serve two masters...with Him or in this case, money ( a god)...

In each there are similar outcomes...
We still have the same choices, centuries later...nothing has really changed...the gods may look different, or the money have different names worldwide ...but the choice, principal is the same...

Choose the God or a god...

Thank YOU...

Psalm 115:1-18 Not to us, Lord, not to us but to your name be the glory, because of your love and faithfulness.
Our God is in heaven; he does whatever pleases him. But their idols are silver and gold, made by human hands.
They have mouths, but cannot speak, eyes, but cannot see.
They have ears, but cannot hear, noses, but cannot smell.
They have hands, but cannot feel, feet, but cannot walk, nor can they utter a sound with their throats.
Those who make them will be like them, and so will all who trust in them.
All you Israelites, trust in the Lord— he is their help and shield.
House of Aaron, trust in the Lord— he is their help and shield.
You who fear him, trust in the Lord— he is their help and shield.
The Lord remembers us and will bless us:
He will bless his people Israel,
he will bless the house of Aaron,
he will bless those who fear the Lord— small and great alike. May the Lord cause you to flourish, both you and your children. May you be blessed by the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. The highest heavens belong to the Lord, but the earth he has given to mankind. It is not the dead who praise the Lord, those who go down to the place of silence; it is we who extol the Lord, both now and forevermore. Praise the Lord.

Matthew 6:24 “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.

Deuteronomy 30:15-20 See, I set before you today life and prosperity, death and destruction.
For I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in obedience to him, and to keep his commands, decrees and laws; then you will live and increase, and the Lord your God will bless you in the land you are entering to possess.
But if your heart turns away and you are not obedient, and if you are drawn away to bow down to other gods and worship them, I declare to you this day that you will certainly be destroyed.
You will not live long in the land you are crossing the Jordan to enter and possess.
This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses.
Now choose life, so that you and your children may live and that you may love the Lord your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him.
For the Lord is your life, and he will give you many years in the land he swore to give to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

Joshua 24:15 But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”
