The guitar makers...

The guitar makers...

Yesterday, I had the privilege of touring a local, but internationally   known handcrafted guitar studio/manufacturing business. What fun...
In the group of nine people, there was one who played these beautiful instruments, so he tried each out that the guide gave him to handle from the five hundred dollar ones to the multi-thousand dollar ones...each resonating with its mellow, rich tones...

There is such science in making these instruments; the kind of wood, the thickness of the woods, the curves, the hole sizes, the humidity, the neck length/width, the type of strings, the sizes, etc..  It is an art to handcraft each one of these with its many layers of time, design...so that the artist is pleased with the end instrument...this is no half hour craft...they send out about two hundred a month after days and days of work, many using American woods in their design as well as abalone shells from California...

Anyway, it was an interesting tour...the buildings hidden away on a back street for privacy...

What craftsmen made the stringed instruments talked about in the Bible? Where did they get their wood? Who designed them? Who all played them?
Who was blessed by their music?

Genesis 4:21 His brother’s name was Jubal; he was the father of all who play stringed instruments and pipes.
David played for Saul to sooth his mind..
many of the psalms were written with stringed instruments for accompaniment ...

Isaiah 38:20 The Lord will save me, and we will sing with stringed instruments all the days of our lives in the temple of the Lord.

Habakkuk 3:19 The Sovereign Lord is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to tread on the heights. For the director of music. On my stringed instruments.

We have at least two to four guitarists leading the song part of worship at church every week...

So stringed instruments have been around a long time....touching the soul of man, reaching the heart of God with melodies of praise...thank YOU that you have blessed us with music for our souls...with instruments or not...
