"Three sheets please...sewer problems"

"Three sheets please, sewer problems....."

I was recently in a home where they were having sewer problems and this sign hung above the toilet...

It brought back pictures in my mind of trips to foreign countries and airports, different customs...

Upon arrival in one country, after many flight hours, we rushed to the bathrooms to be met by an attendant handing out four sheets of toilet paper to each desperate "arrivee"...for those of us who were used to the abundance of any amount of TP we wanted this seemed rather ludicrous ...but we were the guests of this country and needed to heed their customs and not impose our own...
We could have stood there and argued that we had the right for more TP, grumbled about the service or humbly accepted their gift and learned about their culture ...all three were exhibited by the "arrivers"....

Were we fools or wise??

Proverbs 18:1-2, 6-7 An unfriendly person pursues selfish ends and against all sound judgment starts quarrels.
Fools find no pleasure in understanding but delight in airing their own opinions.
The lips of fools bring them strife, and their mouths invite a beating.
The mouths of fools are their undoing, and their lips are a snare to their very lives.

Proverbs 12:15 The way of fools seems right to them, but the wise listen to advice.

Proverbs 26:1-12 Like snow in summer or rain in harvest, honor is not fitting for a fool. Like a fluttering sparrow or a darting swallow, an undeserved curse does not come to rest. A whip for the horse, a bridle for the donkey, and a rod for the backs of fools! Do not answer a fool according to his folly, or you yourself will be just like him. Answer a fool according to his folly,or he will be wise in his own eyes. Sending a message by the hands of a foolis like cutting off one’s feet or drinking poison. Like the useless legs of one who is lame is a proverb in the mouth of a fool. Like tying a stone in a sling is the giving of honor to a fool. Like a thornbush in a drunkard’s hand is a proverb in the mouth of a fool. Like an archer who wounds at random is one who hires a fool or any passer-by. As a dog returns to its vomit, so fools repeat their folly. Do you see a person wise in their own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for them.

I know fools and I have been one as well...but I don't want to be known as one, nor do I want to continue in that path of life...God continues to direct, discipline, love, humble me in many ways, ....daily...and i desire  to listen...wanting that wisdom that comes from His teachings...

Thank YOU for teaching...guiding...directing......help me to listen, expectantly waiting for Your wisdom, Your direction...help me to respect that in others as well...listening to them, not grumbling, but hearing their hearts as they share their lives...
