Sowing generously ...

Sowing generously...

I love the song, "thank you for giving to the Lord".  When I see giving whether is funds, time, resources it blesses my heart...but when I see and hear praise to God for those gifts I am even more blessed...because He was the real source of the gift and the person giving was a tool with which the gift was given...

My mail is full of letters of needs, proposals, ministry requests...and there are so many with worthy causes...but, I really like the letters which tell how God uses the gifts given in people's live...how they have changed, how  their village or church has grown in the Lord...their praises to God for His indescribable gift, His Son...

Mark 12:42-44 But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a few cents.
Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others.
They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.”

We don't get the "rest of the story" about this widow, but we know that she has been honored above the "rich" givers through the ages...her good works abounded...

Thank YOU for giving...help me remember that You gave it all...so that we might give as well...cheerfully, out of praise to you...

2 Corinthians 9:6-15 Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.
Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
As it is written: “They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor; their righteousness endures forever.”
Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness.
You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God. This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of the Lord’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, others will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else.
And in their prayers for you their hearts will go out to you, because of the surpassing grace God has given you.
Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!
