Out of the mouth of babes…

 “Out of the mouths of babes…”

This saying comes from Psalm 8:2…we say it when a child or young person says something profound, wise or even funny…

David said it in psalms and Jesus brought up the saying in the New Testament….

Reading about the Israelite servant girl to Naaman’s wife in 2 Kings 5…she said something profound as well…her belief in a prophet, Elisha, whom she believed could heal this mighty commander of the enemy army. Even though she was a slave girl, probably captured when the armies raided one another, there must have been some trust between them…and she was able to speak up…bring truth the Naaman’s household…and because her words, that commander become a believer in God…a young girl brought words to change their lives…” out of the mouth of babes”…

It is sooooo important to give our children the Word…they take it in simply…they believe simply…

 Now the Syrians on one of their raids had carried off a little girl from the land of Israel, and she worked in the service of Naaman's wife. She said to her mistress, “Would that my lord were with the prophet who is in Samaria! He would cure him of his leprosy.” 

So Naaman went in and told his lord, “Thus and so spoke the girl from the land of Israel.”

  Then Naaman and all his attendants went back to the man of God. 

He stood before him and said, “Now I know that there is no God in all the world except in Israel. So please accept a gift from your servant.”

And even though Naaman urged him, he refused. “If you will not,” said Naaman, “please let me, your servant, be given as much earth as a pair of mules can carry, for your servant will never again make burnt offerings and sacrifices to any other god but the Lord. 

But may the Lord forgive your servant for this one thing: When my master enters the temple of Rimmon to bow down and he is leaning on my arm and I have to bow there also—when I bow down in the temple of Rimmon, may the Lord forgive your servant for this.”
