Because it’s wickedness has come to me….

Because its wickedness has come to me….

Hosea, Amos, Jonah, Micah, Isaiah wrote during the time of the Kings after the split of Israel and Judah….following Solomon’s reign…

“ they began collecting their prophecies and writing them under God’s direction…they continued to preach about world wide significance of God’s work as they looked forward to the future spiritual kingdom. God would use Israel’s moral and spiritual decline to prepare the way of the Messiah’s coming. Because the kingdom and military power of Israel was stripped away, many people would be ready to turn to the Good  News that Jesus would bring.” Bible notes…

(Doesn’t this sound like modern times?)

500 hundred plus miles….across deserts, arid miles of going somewhere that you don’t want to go to…dragging your feet in the sand, in anger, saying, “but, God!”….obedience isn’t always easy…facing the enemy, a wicked, wicked, heartless people… why me?….why them?….Jonah ….

I wonder if he thought about Noah…God destroyed the world because of their wickedness…couldn’t He do that instead of saving it…or Lot with Sodom and Gomorrah, God destroyed those cities..…did he really have to send him to such a wicked place…was God in His sovereignty going to have mercy on Nineveh…?

Maybe if I run away, going as far as I can, He will change his mind…but, no, not going to happen ….

David wrote, long before Jonah…

the Lord—knows the thoughts of man, that they are but a breath.

Ps.94.11

You know when I sit down and when I rise up;you discern my thoughts from afar.

You search out my path and my lying downand are acquainted with all my ways.

Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O Lord, you know it altogether.

You hem me in, behind and before, and lay your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me;it is high; I cannot attain it.

Where shall I go from your Spirit?Or where shall I flee from your presence?

If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there!

If I take the wings of the morningand dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there your hand shall lead me,and your right hand shall hold me.

If I say, “Surely the darkness shall cover me,and the light about me be night,” even the darkness is not dark to you;the night is bright as the day,for darkness is as light with you.

Ps.139.2-12

We can’t get away from God…he gives us breath…Words of his heart…why fight it or Him?

Thank YOU….

Oh no, you never let go…
