 Kings, prophets and weddings…

What a combination…

Starting to read through the prophets, long with the various kings of Judah and Israel, I get lost in the timing of where each fit together…so I look at charts to get a time frame…I know it will never completely stick in my mind, but, it helps temporarily…

But, I was  also thinking of June, summer weddings, flowers , etc…

Weddings, floral design, planning were a fun part of my life…spending time with bridal couples, envisioning and planning their weddings was great fun…loss of sleep, stress which were also part of the equation wasn’t so fun…but, the good times made up for…the months, weeks leading up to the wedding were exciting, most of the time, joyous…a new adventure for a newly forming household, chapter in the lives of these precious people…

Beginning to read through the Old Testament prophets isn’t so fun, there  are dire consequences,warnings, horrible/graphic pictures…few rosy portrayals of wicked people…

One of the hard truths of weddings, is that not all of them lead to successful life and happiness…it is heartbreaking to hear of and know that there are divorces, breakups within months, years of that once happy wedding …pain of people’s hurts, disappointments alter the ceremony’s promises…consequences of past decisions, unresolved pain, etc…erupt into explosive events….

As in the prophets, we experience the hardness of life…

But, there are promises to unfold at some God chosen time for those who put their trust in Him…hidden nuggets of future unparalleled life ….

Yes, there are consequences of turning from God, but, there are promises in turning  to Him…He keeps his…a wedding like no other …
