Let us hold unswervingly….
and since we have a great priest over the house of God,
let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.
Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.
And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
Heb.10.21-25
Imagine standing before the ruler of the land who asks a simple, yet hard question, “ Are you a follower of Christ?”…
Your physical life depends upon your answer…you can bow down before the gods of the land and be released or state your belief in Christ and be killed…
Apparently this is what was happening when the writing of the book of Hebrews was written…
The writer was encouraging those who were facing persecution to hold unswervingly to hope, to the faithful one in whom they believed …
But, because the Word is alive, eternal…it says exactly the same today…
People the world over face the same question…”in whom do you believe?”…it mattered thousand of years ago to Joseph, Abraham, Noah, etc…to the people of Jesus’ time and after, to the people of the Middle Ages…it matters now…and will in the future…
The consequences may or may not be the same…
But, each person must answer…make their stand…
Jesus asked…. “ But what about you?”
Once when Jesus was praying in private and his disciples were with him, he asked them, “Who do the crowds say I am?”
They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, that one of the prophets of long ago has come back to life.”
“But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?”
Peter answered, “God’s Messiah.”
Luke.9.18-20
I can just imagine, Jesus standing, his eyes serious, His expression of waiting for them to answer…knowing their answer…but wanting them to opening say…wrapping their hearts and souls around that very important answer…it would change and guide their lives…it would solidify a path set before each…
Where does our answer lie?
Thank YOU…
I can only imagine…
Standing on the promises …
I know this blog reaches people who face this question each day…and some here is America are getting to this point…we can spur one another on, encourage…pray for …blessings to you…
