Heard, seen, testify and touched…
My verses of the day are from Colossians….
So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.
Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.
Col.2.6-7,Col.3.16
And I started reading 1 John…
That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched—this we proclaim concerning the Word of life.
The life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us.
We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us.
And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ.
We write this to make our joy complete.
This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.
If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth.
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.
If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us.
1 John 1:1-10
Comments about this letter say that is was written about A.D. 85-95, to a group of Christians living in Asia Minor who were troubled by false teachers…Study Bible…
As I read this the words, “Heard, seen, testify and touched” stood out…here is a writer that walked with Jesus…he ate with him, he saw him do miracle after miracle, he left his earthly vocation to follow him, he watched his crucifixion, he saw his return, and his ascension….he heard his words, he heard his teachings, he believed his words…he wrote down Jesus’ words by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit…
He had first hand accounts of Jesus….and he wanted others to know Him, believe in Him…take him at his word…because he was there….
Now, we each have the decision whether to act upon those words… or not…
He wrote to “make our joy complete”…compelled to share…
Thank YOU….
Your Words…
