Your faith has saved you….
By steadfast love and faithfulness iniquity is atoned for,and by the fear of the Lord one turns away from evil.
Prov.16.6
I have a friend who is part of ministry to prostitutes here in the states…they visit local brothels once a month, offering friendship, counsel, the Love of Jesus…they take books, goodies, gifts each time…they encounter the bartenders, the working girls, even the owners of these places …taking prayer requests, praying with them…making an indent with Jesus’ saving grace into lives on the edge…
As I read this passage, I thought of this ministry…it doesn’t say what this woman has done, but, only that she was a sinner…she felt the powerful pull of Jesus, his authority over sin as none of the other guests did…her faith in Him saved her…and she went in peace, like no other…
We all have that same choice to make…do we have faith in Christ or not for forgiveness of our sins…no matter the amount of sin…there is forgiveness…
Thank YOU….
One of the Pharisees asked him to eat with him, and he went into the Pharisee's house and reclined at table.
And behold, a woman of the city, who was a sinner, when she learned that he was reclining at table in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster flask of ointment, and standing behind him at his feet, weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears and wiped them with the hair of her head and kissed his feet and anointed them with the ointment.
Now when the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, “If this man were a prophet, he would have known who and what sort of woman this is who is touching him, for she is a sinner.”
And Jesus answering said to him, “Simon, I have something to say to you.”
And he answered, “Say it, Teacher.”
“A certain moneylender had two debtors. One owed five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. When they could not pay, he cancelled the debt of both. Now which of them will love him more?”
Simon answered, “The one, I suppose, for whom he cancelled the larger debt.”
And he said to him, “You have judged rightly.” Then turning toward the woman he said to Simon, “Do you see this woman?
I entered your house; you gave me no water for my feet, but she has wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair.
You gave me no kiss, but from the time I came in she has not ceased to kiss my feet.
You did not anoint my head with oil, but she has anointed my feet with ointment.
Therefore I tell you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven—for she loved much.
But he who is forgiven little, loves little.”
And he said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.”
Then those who were at table with him began to say among themselves, “Who is this, who even forgives sins?”
And he said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.”
Luke.7.36-50
Romans 3:23 (ESV): 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
Romans 6:23 (ESV): 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 5:8 (ESV): 8 but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 10:9 (ESV): 9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
Romans 10:13 (ESV): 13 For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
Romans 5:1 (ESV): 5 Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
