Photos...

Photos...

I enjoy taking pictures of detail, or nature, of interesting things and angles...sometimes I enter them into competitions at local fairs or magazines...sometimes I get awards, ribbons or even the bigger rosette ribbons and sometimes I get nothing...even a dollar or two in reward money...I like seeing the other pictures in the competition...I like the adulations, the praise from the prizes...

But...none of my competitors or myself would have a scene to photograph if the Creator hadn't put it there in  the first place...I can't make a sunset, a wild animal, the great waterfalls, or  a flower...we just capture a moment in time...

The photographs really aren't an "I " did it, it is a "we" thing...the credit is due      really to the creator...

11 For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”
Luke 14:11

16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
Matthew 5:16

As much as I like the honor of a big ribbon, I really want the viewer of one on my photographs to see the intricacies of the creation ...the design of the Master Designer...thank YOU...

Soap making...

Soap making...

Armed with gloves, long pants, long sleeved shirts, close toed shoes, safety glasses, scales, plastic bowls, ingredients, silicon scapers, plastic molds, thermometer, and directions, several women tackled the "science" and art of soap making at the local park and rec kitchen.

The teacher is a local soap maker who sells her soap all over, "the Idaho soap company". A fun teacher, who shares her love of the craft willingly...comfortably...this is the second time I have joined her class, leaning new things each time ...just as she goes to conventions each year to learn more and more from speakers from all over the world..

The thing is, you start with some ingredients that are caustic to the body and end with a product that you use on your skin....the chemistry changes in the reaction of mixed ingredients...

Saponification -"saponification /sa·pon·i·fi·ca·tion/ (sah-pon″ĭ-fĭ-ka´shun) conversion of an oil or fat into a soap by combination with an alkali....." Medical dictionary ...

http://www.soaphistory.net

As each woman attending the class is different, so the products came out just as different, colors, scents, even though the recipe was the same..each a particular variety...

It made me think of the changes, transformations we find in the Word...and there are many ...

Void to creation...
Dust to man by the Creators word...
Mud and spit to sight at the Savior's crafting...
Saul to Paul...
Sickness to health ...
Water to wine...
Sin to goodness...
Pouting to praise...
Death to life...
Heartbreak to joy...
Craziness to soundness...

Etc...
Etc...
Etc...

Transformations, thank YOU that You have the power to change our hearts, our causticness to something useful...with an aroma that is sweet to soul ...

And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
2 Corinthians 3:18

But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.
Philippians 3:20-21

A few verses...Isaiah ....

A few verses...Isaiah ....

As I read through Isaiah, there are verses that seem to rise from the pages...these are just today's for me...what promises....what declarations!!!

Thank YOU...

But now, this is what the Lord says— he who created you, Jacob, he who formed you, Israel: “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made. ”
I, even I, am the Lord, and apart from me there is no savior. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland. the people I formed for myself that they may proclaim my praise.
"I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more.
"This is what the Lord says— Israel’s King and Redeemer, the Lord Almighty: I am the first and I am the last; apart from me there is no God.
Do not tremble, do not be afraid. Did I not proclaim this and foretell it long ago? You are my witnesses.
Is there any God besides me? No, there is no other Rock; I know not one.” “This is what the Lord says— your Redeemer, who formed you in the womb: I am the Lord, the Maker of all things, who stretches out the heavens, who spreads out the earth by myself, It is I who made the earth and created mankind on it. My own hands stretched out the heavens; I marshaled their starry hosts.
For this is what the Lord says— he who created the heavens, he is God; he who fashioned and made the earth, he founded it; he did not create it to be empty, but formed it to be inhabited — he says: “I am the Lord, and there is no other. I have not spoken in secret, from somewhere in a land of darkness; I have not said to Jacob’s descendants, ‘Seek me in vain.’ I, the Lord, speak the truth; I declare what is right.
Declare what is to be, present it— let them take counsel together. Who foretold this long ago, who declared it from the distant past? Was it not I, the Lord?
And there is no God apart from me, a righteous God and a Savior; there is none but me.
"Turn to me and be saved, all you ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other.
By myself I have sworn, my mouth has uttered in all integrity a word that will not be revoked: Before me every knee will bow; by me every tongue will swear.
Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me.
I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come.
I say, ‘My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please.’

"Listen to me, Jacob, Israel, whom I have called: I am he; I am the first and I am the last. This is what the Lord says— your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “I am the Lord your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go.
If only you had paid attention to my commands, your peace would have been like a river, your well-being like the waves of the sea.

Pesky Mosquitos....

Pesky Mosquitos....

There were two mosquitos touring my house early this morning...seemingly floating around looking at everything, going from to room to room, finally settling in my bedroom to "visit"...they must have entered the night before while I had the door opened to let the dog in or out...they really weren't welcomed with open arms, but they came anyway...

I was reading quotes about God like...

"People travel to wonder at the height of mountains, at the huge waves of the sea, at the vast compass of the ocean, at the circular motion of the stars, and they pass themselves by without wondering " ...Augustine

Followed by scripture from Isaiah about God making the sun go backwards as a sign for King Hezekiah...

All the while watching and hearing  these two minute creatures fly around lighting here and there....these tiny ones which can carry big diseases as they  move from area to area...

The big and the little, God created it all...what a wonder...with purpose, with delight, from the mountains to the valleys, from the thinner-than-a-hair legs of the mosquitos to the thick ponderous legs of the elephant...to each of us in his image...what a Designer...thank YOU...

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand — when I awake, I am still with you.

I'm the boss...

I'm the boss....

Watching America's funniest Home videos the other night, I was intrigued by the toddler who repeatedly answered an adult, " I'm the boss" as the adult egged this little diapered 2-3 year old on...asking "isn't grandma the boss, or mom or dad", as he repeatedly, heatedly, replied again and again, " I'm the boss" brandishing his little pointer finger in the air, emphasizing his outspoken point...

Oh, my...been there done that...maybe not the same exact scene, but similar with either my children, my grandchildren or those I babysat in the past...those willful, headstrong little humans...or maybe they weren't  so little...they have actually come in all ages, come to think of it realistically...myself included in that scene..."I am the boss"...

I can picture myself saying to God, "I didn't want it that way, I wanted it my way,...I want to be the boss"...and He just smiles and lovingly redirects my tantram...with a "timeout" or discipline of some sort...

Reading through the book of Isaiah, nation after nation fall before the Holy One, the high and mighty who have reigned, thinking they were the Boss...

“Woe to the obstinate children,” declares the Lord, “to those who carry out plans that are not mine, forming an alliance, but not by my Spirit, heaping sin upon sin;
This is what the Sovereign  Lord, the Holy One of Israel, says: “In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength, but you would have none of it.
You said, ‘No, we will flee on horses.’ Therefore you will flee! You said, ‘We will ride off on swift horses.’ Therefore your pursuers will be swift!
Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; therefore he will rise up to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice.
Blessed are all who wait for him!
Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”
Isaiah 30:1,15-16,18,21

In the end, and through all time, we really aren't the "bosses" we may have thought we were...thank YOU, in Your sovereignty, You have declared your kingship...

“Turn to me and be saved, all you ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other.
By myself I have sworn, my mouth has uttered in all integrity a word that will not be revoked: Before me every knee will bow; by me every tongue will swear.
They will say of me, ‘In the Lord alone are deliverance and strength.’” All who have raged against him will come to him and be put to shame.
But all the descendants of Israel will find deliverance in the Lord and will make their boast in him.
Isaiah 45:22-25

All the ends of the earth will remember and turn to the Lord, and all the families of the nations will bow down before him, for dominion belongs to the Lord and he rules over the nations.
Psalm 22:27-28

Wheat and barley

Wheat and barley....

I walk through an area that has lots of grain, not a place where they harvest, that is the next field...but this trail has grain growing near it, like it was planted for the birds...so doves, quail feast there...they jump up and down, reaching the heads of the grain, scattering it about  while others greedily eat it...it is like they are the gleaners on the edge of the big fields ripe for harvest...the heads of grain are full, plentiful, provided freely for these birds...provision...

26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?
Matthew 6:26
I am reminded not to worry...

In Leviticus, I am reminded to bring my first fruits to the Lord...my offerings to Him...my heart...
“‘Every grain offering you bring to the Lord must be made without yeast, for you are not to burn any yeast or honey in a food offering presented to the Lord. You may bring them to the Lord as an offering of the firstfruits, but they are not to be offered on the altar as a pleasing aroma. Season all your grain offerings with salt. Do not leave the salt of the covenant of your God out of your grain offerings; add salt to all your offerings. “‘If you bring a grain offering of firstfruits to the Lord, offer crushed heads of new grain roasted in the fire. Put oil and incense on it; it is a grain offering. The priest shall burn the memorial portion of the crushed grain and the oil, together with all the incense, as a food offering presented to the Lord.
Leviticus 2:11-16

As I was reading Hosea, I am  reminded of judgement ....
“They sow the wind and reap the whirlwind. The stalk has no head; it will produce no flour. Were it to yield grain, foreigners would swallow it up.
Hosea 8:7

Gideon was threshing grain, hidden in a wine press...
The angel of the Lord came and sat down under the oak in Ophrah that belonged to Joash the Abiezrite, where his son Gideon was threshing wheat in a winepress to keep it from the Midianites. When the angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon, he said, “The Lord is with you, mighty warrior. ” “Pardon me, my lord,” Gideon replied, “but if the Lord is with us, why has all this happened to us? Where are all his wonders that our ancestors told us about when they said, ‘Did not the Lord bring us up out of Egypt?’ But now the Lord has abandoned us and given us into the hand of Midian.” The Lord turned to him and said, “Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand. Am I not sending you?” “Pardon me, my lord,” Gideon replied, “but how can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family. ” The Lord answered, “I will be with you, and you will strike down all the Midianites, leaving none alive.”
Judges 6:11-16
I am reminded of a reluctant leader, whom the Lord used....

Boaz and Ruth at the threshing floor...I am reminded of provision and redemption....
Her mother-in-law asked her, “Where did you glean today? Where did you work? Blessed be the man who took notice of you! ” Then Ruth told her mother-in-law about the one at whose place she had been working. “The name of the man I worked with today is Boaz,” she said. “The Lord bless him! ” Naomi said to her daughter-in-law. “He has not stopped showing his kindness to the living and the dead.” She added, “That man is our close relative; he is one of our guardian-redeemers. ” Then Ruth the Moabite said, “He even said to me, ‘Stay with my workers until they finish harvesting all my grain.’” Naomi said to Ruth her daughter-in-law, “It will be good for you, my daughter, to go with the women who work for him, because in someone else’s field you might be harmed.” He also said, “Bring me the shawl you are wearing and hold it out.” When she did so, he poured into it six measures of barley and placed the bundle on her. Then he went back to town.
Ruth 2:19-22,3:15

Reading Psalm 1 reminds me to be fruitful, not chaff that blows in the wind...
That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither— whatever they do prospers. Not so the wicked! They are like chaff that the wind blows away.
Psalm 1:3-4

Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. 38 Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”
Matthew 9:37-38
Jesus speaking to his disciples...I am reminded that He tells us to be workers in the kingdom...

Thank YOU for the reminders...these are but a few...You Are Lord of the Harvest...the Provider...the Judge...

After the winter...

After the winter....

"See! The winter is past; the rains are over and gone. Flowers appear on the earth; the season of singing has come, the cooing of doves is heard in our land. The fig tree forms its early fruit; the blossoming vines spread their fragrance. ....."
Song of Songs 2:11-13a

I have been trying to get to a neighbor's home for several days and finally made it the other day...my offering was a couple of fresh tree ripened nectarines...no big deal...but the message to go with them was one I was assigned to bring..."there is fruit after the winter"...

Many of us have needed that message after a "winter" time of life...the cold harsh life events leaving us wondering if there is a reprieve, a spring, a hope, an ending of despair or a ray of sunshine somewhere...even a piece of fruit ...

Her husband has recently passed away after a long period of care...so she is still in the throes of grief, but there is relief as well from the constant care of a person who wasn't really there anymore...he wasn't the man she married so long ago when she was 17...his mind was a stranger in a familiar body...

She is still tired, weary from paperwork, but needing a ray of hope ...spring, harvest after the winter time...a friend to process with, family to care...

Thank YOU that I can be of use in bringing a piece of fruit....a word of encouragement to a weary soul...YOU planned the fruit, and freely gave the message...

Your love has given me great joy and encouragement, because you, brother, have refreshed the hearts of the Lord’s people.
Philemon 1:7

May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word.
2 Thessalonians 2:16-17

(The fruit which I have joyously received through no way on my own...God birthed it on trees that I had planted last fall...a daily reminder of His freely giving of Himself...I cannot create them..I can only water and take care of them,  watching them grow and mature, enjoy when they have ripened...a gift to me and I can freely gift to others) thank YOU...

Small strands...

Small strands...

Several years ago, we had the privilege of visiting a silk factory. There were containers filled with the silk worm cocoons, displays of the silk making process, machines unwinding the silk, products in the process of being made from the silk, and ,of course, products for purchase.

We watched in amazement as the workers stretched strands from damaged cocoons across frames the size of beds to make silk comforters. They used many cocoons for this task, but the finished comforters were soft and lightweight.

The silk fabric, soft, and pliable, rich...

The other day, I included a video about a tiny hummingbird who uses webs as well...to make her tiny nest for her tiny eggs...

Then yesterday, I arrived at the pool where I work out, to find a tiny spider had connected its web from the ceiling of this huge building down to the edge of the pool...it was escorted kindly outdoors by the instructors...but the strand shimmered in the sunlight like a string of light connecting the ceiling to the pool.

Webbing has been used and is still used for a multitude of things over thousands of years...we seem to try to get rid of theses pesky little things when they actually have a use and purpose...

Were these various silk makers accidents of nature over eons of time? I think not...were we humans?  No, we were created in the image of a wonderfully Creative God who planned out everything... Thank YOU...for large and tiny...

Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.
God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground. ” Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds in the sky and all the creatures that move along the ground—everything that has the breath of life in it—I give every green plant for food. ” And it was so. God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning —the sixth day.
Genesis 1:26-31

1.  Eleanor Morgan , "spiders, humans and their threads"

2.  INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT SPIDER WEBS AND BENEFITS OF USING SPIDER SILK

Stephanie L. Richards, PhD, Medical Entomologist

WHY DON’T SPIDERS GET STUCK IN THEIR OWN WEBS?
Have you ever gone through a forest path or area in your garden and walked straight into a spider web? It takes some time to remove the sticky web substance from your face and other body parts. So, how can spiders navigate their webs with such ease as they are building webs and capturing prey?
Different species of spiders build different types of webs. Even within a single species of spider, different parts of the web (e.g., outer areas versus center) may have different properties (sticky or not sticky). Spider legs contain hair-like projections (called setae) and tarsal claws (on the tip of each leg) that help them navigate the web.
In the webs of orb weaver spiders, there are spiral-shaped parts along the edges that are sticky (for trapping prey), but other parts (e.g., center) are not sticky. There may also be areas where sticky spots (capture silks) are located and spiders can walk around these areas, if needed. In orb weavers, hygroscopic salts (help with changes caused by humidity) interact with adhesive glycoproteins to make the spider silk sticky.
Unlike orb weavers, cobweb-building spiders (e.g., widow spiders) use a different type of biological glue in their webs. Instead of building webs with spirals, they use “gumfoot threads” that lack the core of glycoproteins (although there are still some insoluble glycoproteins in the webbing material) and do not change very much in response to humidity.
Depending on the species, funnel web spiders build non-sticky or sticky webs. In webs that are not sticky, the structure of the web entangles the prey insects’ feet, giving the spider an opportunity to rush out, inject venom into the victim and pull the prey back into the funnel.
HOW IS SILK USED TODAY?
Silkworm (insect) silks (not to be confused with spider [arachnid] silk) have been used in textiles and also for making sutures used in surgery. These silks are taken from cocoons of caterpillars, and this insect silk contains sericin proteins (not present in spider silk).
Spider (arachnid) silk is much stronger than insect silk. Soluble silk proteins are processed through special spinning organs in the spider, hence producing fiber-like webbing. Spider silk exhibits a high resilience and can absorb three times as much energy as a synthetic fiber, such as Kevlar (material used in bullet-proof vests). In ancient times, silks were also used to stop the bleeding for wounds and also as a delivery method for applying “antiseptic” agents, such as vinegar. Today, investigators have developed synthetic spider silk-based bandages containing antibiotic properties (Harvey et al. 2017).
Spider (e.g., orb weaver) silk proteins are being engineered for use in many applications, including bone tissue engineering (Melke et al. 2016) and nerve regeneration. Silk proteins are desirable for these applications due to a reduced immune response and its biodegradable properties. The physical properties of spider silk make it useful for building the framework for structures that may be used in medical applications.
Scientists are discovering how to spin spider silk proteins. Thus far, spinning techniques have produced spider silk about ten times thicker than natural spider silk. Scientists are also experimenting with making films (rather than threads) from spider silk for use in some applications. The next step for some researchers is to use spider silk fibers as a scaffolding for making medical devices using three-dimensional printers.
We continue to look to nature as a model for items that can have practical use for humans. It is important that we build on current knowledge of natural processes in order to create new materials and improve existing resources.

Thunder eggs...

Thunder eggs ....

One of the small rural towns nearby has a thunder egg weekend...venders congregate from near and far with their various wares...rock collectors are among the mix, with their displays of various rocks from all over, but buckets of thunder eggs are showcased.

One vender had a saw available to cut into these thunder eggs...you never know what you find inside these rounded rocks, but hopefully an array of crystals will be discovered or a pretty display of solid Quartz, making the thunder egg a thing of beauty instead of a round dirty looking rock that most of us would pass by on our walks...

"This article is about a type of rock.

A thunderegg (or thunder egg) is a nodule-like rock, similar to a filled geode, that is formed within rhyoliticvolcanic ash layers.[1] Thundereggs are rough spheres, most about the size of a baseball—though they can range from less than an inch to over a meter across. They usually contain centres of chalcedonywhich may have been fractured followed by deposition of agate, jasper or opal,[1] either uniquely or in combination. Also frequently encountered are quartz and gypsum crystals, as well as various other mineral growths and inclusions. Thundereggs usually look like ordinary rocks on the outside, but slicing them in half and polishing them may reveal intricate patterns and colours. A characteristic feature of thundereggs is that (like other agates) the individual beds they come from can vary in appearance, though they can maintain a certain specific identity within them.
Thunderegg is not synonymous with either geode or agate. A geode is a simple term for a rock with a hollow in it, often with crystal formation/growth. A thunderegg on the other hand is a specific geological structure. A thunderegg may be referred to as a geode if it has a hollow in it (see illustration of Gehlberg specimen), but not all geodes are thundereggs because there are many different ways for a hollow to form. Similarly, a thunderegg is just one of the forms that agate can assume." Wikipedia.

I picked a few fist sized thunder eggs to take to grandchildren to crack open to see what treasures we can find. (It is best, if you don't have a saw, to put them into a sock or something when hitting them with a hammer, for safety sake.)

It reminded me of the verse about the unseen..in a very loose sense!!!
These relatively ugly roundish stones are not usually something that would catch your eye to pick and treasure from their outward appearance...the treasure is in the inside if we take time to find it, cutting through the hard exterior...

Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
2 Corinthians 4:16-18

I will give you hidden treasures, riches stored in secret places, so that you may know that I am the Lord, the God of Israel, who summons you by name.
Isaiah 45:3

As we look at creation, the delicate flower petal, the intricate patterns on bugs, the procreation of life, the thunder egg, the timing of the sunshine, the tiniest bird....we see treasures all around...the Creator who wants to be known, who wants a relationship with us in the hidden places and the glorious world around us, in our very soul...our core...shedding our hard exterior to transform into His likeness...thank YOU...

Bring back.....

Bring back....

"and I will bring my people Israel back from exile. “They will rebuild the ruined cities and live in them. They will plant vineyards and drink their wine; they will make gardens and eat their fruit. I will plant Israel in their own land, never again to be uprooted from the land I have given them,” says the Lord your God."
Amos 9:14-15

Reading in the book of Amos, God finished the book with a promise--"bring back". Then I found more similar promises in various books as well...that promise of restoration of land for the Israelites is wonderful...but the principle of restoration or "bringing back" is so much deeper than just the land   in which they lived...it is cleaning us up, proclaiming that we can be restored to Him if we stray away...God never leaves us...He wants us home, in His "land", taken care of, fruitful, finished, forgiven...thank YOU...for Your forbearance when we wander...Your bringing us back to our roots, our place in You, Your Faithfulness ....

I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you. ”
Genesis 28:15

Even if you have been banished to the most distant land under the heavens, from there the Lord your God will gather you and bring you back.
Deuteronomy 30:4

“When your people Israel have been defeated by an enemy because they have sinned against you, and when they turn back to you and give praise to your name, praying and making supplication to you in this temple, then hear from heaven and forgive the sin of your people Israel and bring them back to the land you gave to their ancestors.
1 Kings 8:33-34

then hear from heaven and forgive the sin of your people Israel and bring them back to the land you gave to them and their ancestors.
2 Chronicles 6:25

And now the Lord says— he who formed me in the womb to be his servant to bring Jacob back to him and gather Israel to himself, for I am honored in the eyes of the Lord and my God has been my strength — he says: “It is too small a thing for you to be my servant to restore the tribes of Jacob and bring back those of Israel I have kept. I will also make you a light for the Gentiles, that my salvation may reach to the ends of the earth.”
Isaiah 49:5-6

“I myself will gather the remnant of my flock out of all the countries where I have driven them and will bring them back to their pasture, where they will be fruitful and increase in number.
Jeremiah 23:3

“Therefore say: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: I will gather you from the nations and bring you back from the countries where you have been scattered, and I will give you back the land of Israel again.’
Ezekiel 11: 17

I will bring them back to live in Jerusalem; they will be my people, and I will be faithful and righteous to them as their God. ”
Zechariah 8:8

He will bring back many of the people of Israel to the Lord their God.
Luke 1:16 ....speaking of John the Baptist...

My brothers and sisters, if one of you should wander from the truth and someone should bring that person back, remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of their way will save them from death and cover over a multitude of sins.

Jealousy..../anger....

Jealousy.../anger...

Reading through Jonah early this am, I was brought up short about my attitude of jealousy...

I remember distinct moments in life when I was jealous...
- Growing up, friends and family got store bought clothing, while mine were homemade
- Others seemed to buy what they wanted when they wanted
- Others seemed to have perfect hair, etc..."better life"...
- I still get pangs of jealousy when I see or are among others who still have their spouses alive, holding hands, communicating with looks that spell long relationships...

Lessons learned and learning...
- one year I wanted store bought clothing, so my mother gave me the same budget, and it didn't go near as far with store bought clothing...thankfulness for my mother's talent and teaching...
- Learned and learning that waiting is worth it...the planning and anticipation are part of the process of waiting. Time also gives you a chance to shop wisely, change a desire/need. Find out what is important..Enjoy the moment...
- There is no such thing as "perfect" hair, body, life, etc...
- Savor the times with others, enjoying their joy...thank God I had the time I did...instead of the "what ifs or might  have beens"...

Jonah was told to go and he ran,
Jonah was told to go again and he did, but then he didn't like the outcome as he watched the population turn to God...he wanted what he wanted...and God still showed mercy toward the people and Jonah again...even when Jonah wanted another outcome ...
God is sovereign in His decisions...
-he shows compassion...
-he loves with an overwhelming love...
-he uses mere man to carry his messages...
-his timing is his...

Thank YOU

The Book of Jonah

But to Jonah this seemed very wrong, and he became angry.
He prayed to the Lord, “Isn’t this what I said, Lord , when I was still at home? That is what I tried to forestall by fleeing to Tarshish. I knew that you are a gracious and compassionate God, slow to anger and abounding in love, a God who relents from sending calamity.
But the Lord replied, “Is it right for you to be angry?”
But God said to Jonah, “Is it right for you to be angry about the plant?”
"It is,” he said. “And I’m so angry I wish I were dead.”
But the Lord said, “You have been concerned about this plant, though you did not tend it or make it grow. It sprang up overnight and died overnight. And should I not have concern for the great city of Nineveh, in which there are more than a hundred and twenty thousand people who cannot tell their right hand from their left—and also many animals?”

Helplessness...

Helplessness....

The question was, "who do you call when you feel helpless?".

Someone recently told me, " you are a mom to so many"....I am the "ventee", listening to other's problems, lives, ....then I came upon this scripture this morning...of course no accident in timing...when I just want to fix everybody and help them...I can't do it all!!! Only God has the power to help....

Buzz words like independent, self sufficiency, on your own, stand alone, willful, I can do it myself....are great, but bottom line is we can't even breathe without the divine help of God...he knows the timing, the situation and the lessons to be learned....He holds the real power to help...and I need to remember that in my "fix it mode".... Thank YOU...

The Lord had seen how bitterly everyone in Israel, whether slave or free, was suffering; there was no one to help them.
2 Kings 14:26

Even if you go and fight courageously in battle, God will overthrow you before the enemy, for God has the power to help or to overthrow.”
2 Chronicles 25:8

Lyrics to older song-"Where could I go but to the Lord

Living below, in this old sinful world
Hardly a comfort can afford
Striving alone, to face temptation's sword
Where could I go but to the Lord?

Where could I go, oh where could I go?
Seeking a refuge for my soul
Needing a friend, to help me in the end
Where could I go, but to the Lord?

Neighbors are kind, I love them everyone
We get along in sweet accord
But when my soul, needs manner from above
Where could I go but to the Lord?

Where could I go, oh where could I go?
Seeking a refuge for my soul
Needing a friend, to help me in the end
Where could I go, but to the Lord?

Life here is grand, with friends I love so dear
Comfort I get from God's own word
Yet when I face this chilling hand of death
Where could I go but to the Lord?

Where could I go, oh where could I go?
Seeking a refuge for my soul
Needing a friend, to help me in the end
Where could I go, but to the Lord?"

Honesty....

Honesty......

They did not require an accounting from those to whom they gave the money to pay the workers, because they acted with complete honesty.
2 Kings 12:15

This verse stood out from the reading about the times of Joash the king...he was collecting monies for the repair of the temple...and then distributing them to workers for the repair work...complete honesty was their reputation.

What a report about a reputation in times that were not necessarily good...verses like "he did what was evil", " he did what was good" are repeated over and over in 1 and 2 Kings and Chronicles...but these workers were singled out for their honestly in dealing with their work...what a legacy...we will read about it into eternity...

What words describe my legacy?..I ask..if someone were to describe my character, what would they say? In times when temptations abound, am I honest? Do I live a life of integrity? Fair dealings? Truthful? Respectful? Genuine?

Thank YOU for the example, the encouragement to live life honestly ....

Deepness...

Deepness....

There are times, sometimes often, sometimes far apart, that my soul just longs for a deepness that cannot be met by anything of this world....not money, not pleasure, not material, not even human...just a knowing that God is the only person who can fill that void....His presence...His comfort, His peace,  His Word...that awareness that He is always present-a true gift in itself...

He knows before I even realize I need that deepness, because He created that need within each of us...He alone can fill that void, that longing...He sings to our heart, He has the melody that fills the silence...He speaks the Word ....

I think of the men walking to Emmaus after Christ's crucifixion and resurrection wondering, questioning, empty, the "whys", and Christ appeared and explained all to them, filling that void...and they wanted more of Him and then recognizing Him, they wanted to tell their friends...

The Word awakens our need, fulfills our deep longing, convicts...cleanses....thank YOU...

Now that same day two of them were going to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem. They were talking with each other about everything that had happened. As they talked and discussed these things with each other, Jesus himself came up and walked along with them; but they were kept from recognizing him. He asked them, “What are you discussing together as you walk along?” They stood still, their faces downcast. One of them, named Cleopas, asked him, “Are you the only one visiting Jerusalem who does not know the things that have happened there in these days?” 19 “What things?” he asked. “About Jesus of Nazareth,” they replied. “He was a prophet, powerful in word and deed before God and all the people. The chief priests and our rulers handed him over to be sentenced to death, and they crucified him; but we had hoped that he was the one who was going to redeem Israel. And what is more, it is the third day since all this took place. In addition, some of our women amazed us. They went to the tomb early this morning but didn’t find his body. They came and told us that they had seen a vision of angels, who said he was alive. Then some of our companions went to the tomb and found it just as the women had said, but they did not see Jesus.” He said to them, “How foolish you are, and how slow to believe all that the prophets have spoken! 26 Did not the Messiah have to suffer these things and then enter his glory?” And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself. As they approached the village to which they were going, Jesus continued on as if he were going farther. But they urged him strongly, “Stay with us, for it is nearly evening; the day is almost over.” So he went in to stay with them. When he was at the table with them, he took bread, gave thanks, broke it and began to give it to them. Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him, and he disappeared from their sight. They asked each other, “Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?” They got up and returned at once to Jerusalem. There they found the Eleven and those with them, assembled together Then the two told what had happened on the way, and how Jesus was recognized by them when he broke the bread.
Luke 24:13-35

Jesus Always, Sarah Young
"DESIRING HIM
I HAVE AWAKENED IN YOUR HEART A STRONG DESIRE TO KNOW ME. This longing originated in Me, though it now burns brightly in you.
Before you knew Me, you tried to find life in many different places. Often you would think you had found what you were searching for—only to be disappointed later. After you became thoroughly disillusioned, I reached down and took you into My own family. Later, you began thirsting for Me, longing to know Me at a deeper heart level. You set aside time to meet with Me as your living God—vibrantly present with you.
When you set out to know Me more intimately, I rejoiced but I wasn’t surprised. I had been pursuing you long before you began your quest. I was working in your life experiences, as well as in your heart, mind, and spirit. Your desire for a closer walk with Me grew out of My painstaking work in you.  I initiated your longing for Me, and your response delights Me.
It is important for you to know Me as the Initiator in our relationship. If you think it is your spiritual disciplines that keep you close to Me, you are at risk. Some days you may skimp on your time with Me or not be able to concentrate well. If you’re depending on your own efforts to stay near Me, you will feel distant from Me at such times. But if you are relying on Me—what I have done, am doing, will do—you know My Love for you is always assured. So you can rest in Me: trusting in My unfailing Love, flourishing in My abiding Presence.
O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water. PSALM 63: 1
My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God? PSALM 42: 2
"I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.” JOHN 15: 5 NASB

But I am like an olive tree flourishing in the house of God; I trust in God’s unfailing love for ever and ever. PSALM 52: 8"

Above the clouds...

Above the clouds...

After two weeks of mild rain to severe thunder storms from one end of the US to the other, walking in, riding in, driving in, boating in, flying in...this morning I got to fly above the gigantic forming thunder clouds...billowing, moving, fluffing and finally anvilling out in the crystal clear blue sky. The sun was shining, lighting up the whiteness of the clouds...and for a way we flew in paths between the towering columns...
I was glad I wasn't underneath them though...as it was forecast for more severe storms...

But the beauty...ahhh....so majestic.....God is such a creator...man can never duplicate that...thank YOU...for such views...

The song, "oh Lord oh Lord, how majestic...." was playing in my mind...

There are times when we are in the valleys of rains, caught in the multitude of storms which can flood our lives, dampen our spirits....and then we sometimes get to climb to the heights of beauty and peace...we have all "been there and done that", as we say...God is in each with us.

Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord from the heavens; praise him in the heights above.
Praise him, you highest heavens and you waters above the skies.
Praise the Lord from the earth, you great sea creatures and all ocean depths, lightning and hail, snow and clouds, stormy winds that do his bidding,
Let them praise the name of the Lord, for his name alone is exalted; his splendor is above the earth and the heavens.
Psalm 148:1,4,7-8, 13
