Daylight savings time......
I woke up this morning an hour earlier because of the new time....I awaken early as it is, and now it is earlier!!! So I dread the time change....grumbling I recheck the clock again to see if I saw it right the first time, knowing that I did....grumbling....I don't want to wake up this early...... Of course the right thing to do, would be to take this time to pray...but I am still grumbling how early it is...
God must either have a wonderful sense of humor, or be so disappointed in my attitude...but, literally the first verse this morning was the following .....followed by the reading in Jesus calling....
Philippians 2:14 Do everything without grumbling or arguing, 15 so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.” Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky
Okay, I get the point.....I woke up, that is a praise, I can move about, am free, can talk, have a roof over my head, can worship freely, had a safe trip, have a wonderful family, friends, .......my eyes may be bloodshot as Proverbs says, but the praise must come first.... I truly want that blamelessness, that purity of heart, soul and mind.....so again praise in all things......

Why give thanks, 2
Why give thanks?

Well, thanksgiving is a month away.....our country as well as others celebrate a day of thanksgiving, originally thanking God for His provision for helping the pilgrims get through their new life in a new country with the help of the native Americans .
But, it seems we have gotten a long way from that...or just a long way from being thankful at all. So here are some verses, taken one by one to give thanks, many repeating "for His love endures forever"....but isn't that worth repeating??
Can you imagine being a person who was designated "just " to give thanks to The Lord as some were? ...in all things....for all things....for those around us...
We have a lot for which to be thankful....so thank on....
Thank You oh God,,,,for your love does endures forever, You save us, You love us, ......and on and on....it goes from the beginning to the end......

I love this portion of scripture....
Jesus is praying for me....of all people, because he knows me by name and form from the beginning, but He is including me in his prayers and it is recorded in the book of John...so that I can see that Jesus prayed for those who came after, without seeing him,.... walking with Him ...traveling with Him, touching Him....we believe with our hearts, souls and minds even though we weren't with Him....that prayer is for "down through the ages"... Not limit on what year, in the future....He knew, knows.....
John 17:20 “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, 21 that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. 22 I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one— 23 I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.
24 “Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world.

And then I like to put my name is this one also, recorded as Paul's prayer for his fellow workers in Christ at Philippians...but shared with the world through the BIble, handed down through the generations.....
Philippians 1:9 And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, 10 so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, 11 filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God.
These are personal....hitting the heart...the soul.....

Going through past notes, choices, changes...
Thinking of past notes.....choices....
As I go back and read notes I wrote upon visiting my father last winter, I am struck at the ultimate choices we all make. Mine, for not recognizing and doing something to make changes. And my father's, as he remained in a situation that was not healthy.....
Who is to blame? Both and neither....we wanted something that was not to happen, wanting the past to continue on, sameness...and in a way, so did he....we all mourn the changes that we don't like.....but must trust and go on.....there will always be ups and downs, hard and easy, highs and lows, dark and light, wise and unwise decisions....
Lord, I have to thank you again, even though it is hard....to let go, to go back, think through the challenges sometimes, to move, to change, to reflect, the "what ifs", the "might have beens", but I oh so want that peace that You promise for saying thank you....it is hard to look back and now see the end result of notes written, taken this last winter....even though my dad has passes away

I have been thinking, observing through this short trip to Three Rivers....
1. Dad is down physically and emotionally. He is depressed. So many changes in a short period of time.
From Fortuna ,where he knew people for 40 plus years, was active in community places-church, farm bureau, bear river group, loop road friends, Friday morning donut get togethers, teaching teachers, etc. etc etc. He has always been very social and loving to tell stories, share peoples lives with a purpose to continue on. He had the woods to work in as well to visit with neighbor of nearby timber ground.
2. Need to communicate and challenge him to at least write stories, jokes. Us to ask questions.
He was much more animated when we had dinner out with family. More people around.
His mind is very active and he still remembers more than I ever will.
We miss his letters, jokes, stories and encouragement.

I am a fearful person...there I said it, it is out...I was taught to fear in quiet ways all of my growing up years , As well as events that happened to make me fearful,....
Some fears took years to overcome, others still exist, waiting to be dealt with....
I don't like being fearful....it shows lack of trust,and confidence, but it still lurks, hidden and unhidden on the fringes or sometimes central parts of my life....
I am fearful of doing the wrong things, saying the wrong words, wearing the wrong clothes, meeting the wrong people, making the wrong decisions,.....the list goes on and and on.....
I know I am not alone in this place or there would not be the extensive definition of the word "fear"....
As yet, I have not seen a group for "fearers anonymous", but I imagine that it may be group who would fear being there and not come out of fear.....so it doesn't exist...
I want that joy and peace of not being fearful....most of the time, I'll have to admit, it is there.....but the fear still lurks ...in the background, ready to raise its ugly head....
So praise music, Gods word, sunshine, laughter, people, quietness, beauty of nature, work to shove the fears away.....

It seems sometimes that our society is full of discord...
And more importantly, that is what is taught, on various ways of communication ......discord, arguments...ungraciousness....hate...division instead do building up, encouraging....pitting one against another on a daily basis...
We thrive on the various peoples' lives who really aren't the best examples for life...

Field upon field
These last few days, i have driven miles along miles of crop lands. Onions, potatoes, plucots, apples of all varieties, dry beans, alfalfa, grains, cherries, sugar beets, corn, silage, hops, etc,etc.....in a valley wide with production, good soil as well as lots of people driving the wide highways,
It is by no means the bread basket of America, smaller than the Central Valley of California, or the grain lands of middle America, but so productive as long as there is water......
But there are places that nothing grows as well, dry, barren patches, away from the water. The soil is white with alkali and other salts which discourages plant growth, or rocks which fill the fields and prohibit much plant life. It seems like the snakes and lizards inhabit these areas...
There are tractors of all sizes, doing a variety of things from harvesting this year's crops to others which are tilling and planting next year's. The farmers always busy, planting, encouraging, harvesting whatever crop they are working this year....
It is a real life picture of two Bible commentaries: the fields ripe with harvest as souls of people are ready for the Word of God who realize their longing and need for a Savior; and the parable of the soils which portrays the various hearts of people, ready or not for the sowing of God's word into their hearts...
It takes the good soils for the good harvest....the readiness, preparation, longing to embrace the Word and then the growth......
I need that good soil in my soul for growth, the willingness, the openness to accept the planting, the waiting, the rains, the emerging of a crop of God's producing. I want to be like the fields, producing much....not the one that is rocky, salty, non-producing.
I want that "well done" producing the crop that is intended for my life....so that the legacy goes on and on, producing, stewarding the "crop lands" ......a soil ready....
a heart ready.....
Thank YOU for the abundance You provide, both in the fields of land, but the pictures You provide of our lives, through your word.....
Matthew 25:21a His master replied, "Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things....."
Matthew 13:8, 23...still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop...a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.....but the one who received the seed that fell on good soil is the man who hears the word and understands it. he produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown...
