Found notes…4…preparing for Christmas…10…

 Found notes….4…preparing for Christmas…10…

Herod…

Now here’s a man who wasn’t prepared for Christmas nor was he thrilled that Jesus came…he was troubled, angry, vengeful, cruel, scheming…

In other words, he was by no means welcoming of this Christ child, nor prepared to give up his kingship to another…not knowing that this coming of Christ was as a servant, not the king promised in the future…Herod as not ready to bow down to another…

Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem, saying, “Where is he who has been born king of the Jews? For we saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.”

When Herod the king heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him; and assembling all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he inquired of them where the Christ was to be born.

Then Herod summoned the wise men secretly and ascertained from them what time the star had appeared. And he sent them to Bethlehem, saying, “Go and search diligently for the child, and when you have found him, bring me word, that I too may come and worship him.” After listening to the king, they went on their way. And behold, the star that they had seen when it rose went before them until it came to rest over the place where the child was.

And being warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they departed to their own country by another way.

Then Herod, when he saw that he had been tricked by the wise men, became furious, and he sent and killed all the male children in Bethlehem and in all that region who were two years old or under, according to the time that he had ascertained from the wise men.

Then was fulfilled what was spoken by the prophet Jeremiah: “A voice was heard in Ramah, weeping and loud lamentation,Rachel weeping for her children;she refused to be comforted, because they are no more.”

But when Herod died, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt, saying, “Rise, take the child and his mother and go to the land of Israel, for those who sought the child's life are dead.”

And he rose and took the child and his mother and went to the land of Israel.

But when he heard that Archelaus was reigning over Judea in place of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there, and being warned in a dream he withdrew to the district of Galilee.

And he went and lived in a city called Nazareth, so that what was spoken by the prophets might be fulfilled, that he would be called a Nazarene.

Matt.2.1-4, Matt.2.7-9,Matt.2.12,Matt.2.16-23

There will be a time when the world will acknowledge Christ’s Kingship… and the nations of the world will bow down…there will be no denying…and it behooves all to be prepared…there will be judgement…

Thank YOU….

Oh come, let us worship and bow down;let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker! For he is our God,and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand.Today, if you hear his voice,   do not harden your hearts, as at Meribah,as on the day at Massah in the wilderness,

Ps.95.6-8

For to us a child is born,to us a son is given;and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be calledWonderful Counselor, Mighty God,Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and of peacethere will be no end,on the throne of David and over his kingdom,to establish it and to uphold itwith justice and with righteousnessfrom this time forth and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this.

Isa.9.6-7

“Turn to me and be saved, all the ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other. By myself I have sworn;from my mouth has gone out in righteousnessa word that shall not return:‘To me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear allegiance.’

Isa.45.22-23

He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. And the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.”

Luke.1.32-33
