First mission trip…
“Paul’s first missionary journey took him to Cyprus, and then to Asia Minor, where he visited Pisidian, Antioch, Iconium, Lystra, and Derbe…the first time the church sent out missionaries”. the Chronological Study Bible,Nelson…
Now there were in the church at Antioch prophets and teachers, Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen a lifelong friend of Herod the tetrarch, and Saul. While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” Then after fasting and praying they laid their hands on them and sent them off.
So, being sent out by the Holy Spirit, they went down to Seleucia, and from there they sailed to Cyprus. When they arrived at Salamis, they proclaimed the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews.
And they had John to assist them. When they had gone through the whole island as far as Paphos, they came upon a certain magician, a Jewish false prophet named Bar-Jesus. He was with the proconsul, Sergius Paulus, a man of intelligence, who summoned Barnabas and Saul and sought to hear the word of God.
Then the proconsul believed, when he saw what had occurred, for he was astonished at the teaching of the Lord.
Now Paul and his companions set sail from Paphos and came to Perga in Pamphylia. And John left them and returned to Jerusalem, but they went on from Perga and came to Antioch in Pisidia. And on the Sabbath day they went into the synagogue and sat down.

In the early 1990’s, Russia or the USSR, broke up into a variety of countries not under Russian rule…it had been a long time in coming…countries that had been under Russian rule since the early 1900’s. They wanted their own rule and they’re our country back.

Mission organizations were quick to enter openly into these now more free countries, moving quickly, giving out the Word to people whose Bibles had been burned in the streets or who were imprisoned for their faith…
Nations, who purported no Christians left, welcomed these mission organizations, even showing the Gospel on state TV stations…believers increased, with churches to follow…
My husband was privileged to go to Mongolia on a mission trip during this time, his first missionary journey…they rode jeeps around the countryside showing the Jesus Film in the gers, on outside building walls…wherever they could…using the big film projectors and reel to reel films…giving out the book of Luke in Mongolian written form to whomever would take it…people were hungry for the Word and news from the “outside “…
He went back several times, had some Christian financial materials translated into Mongolian. His last trip was three months before he was diagnosed with terminal cancer…but he loved the adventure, the challenge, the people…and he wanted to encourage new missionaries in their endeavors…
Paul got to continue making journeys until he was at last imprisoned…
Thank YOU for the men and women who follow your call to share your Word…
Til the whole world knows…
