Aging….

 Aging….

This morning, I was thanking the Lord to be able to walk across my bedroom without holding on to anything…a change from yesterday when I went from item to item…or last week when we walked over 8 miles…thank YOU…

Each day is a new day and I need to rejoice in all things….

Another episode of thinking of aging….oh, I have denied it royally….

“That is for others to face, not me”, as the years quickly tick by…

And thanks to doctors who faithfully listen to our woes, our pain…with suggestions, some answers, another test…some encouragement…

These verses came to mind….and some interesting articles…

Thank YOU….again…

“You shall stand up before the gray head and honor the face of an old man, and you shall fear your God: I am the Lord.

Leviticus 19:32

“‘Honor your father and your mother, as the Lord your God commanded you, that your days may be long, and that it may go well with you in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.

Deuteronomy 5:16

Remember the days of old; consider the years of many generations; ask your father, and he will show you, your elders, and they will tell you.

Deuteronomy 32:7

Moses was 120 years old when he died. His eye was undimmed, and his vigor unabated.

Deuteronomy 34:7

He shall be to you a restorer of life and a nourisher of your old age, for your daughter-in-law who loves you, who is more to you than seven sons, has given birth to him.”

Ruth 4:15

Wisdom is with the aged, and understanding in length of days.

Job 12:12

I said, ‘Let days speak, and many years teach wisdom.’

Job 32:7

So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom.

Psalm 90:12

The righteous flourish like the palm tree and grow like a cedar in Lebanon. They are planted in the house of the Lord; they flourish in the courts of our God. They still bear fruit in old age; they are ever full of sap and green,

Psalm 92:12-14

Gray hair is a crown of glory; it is gained in a righteous life.

Proverbs 16:31

Grandchildren are the crown of the aged, and the glory of children is their fathers.

Proverbs 17:6

The glory of young men is their strength, but the splendor of old men is their gray hair.

Proverbs 20:29

So if a person lives many years, let him rejoice in them all…..

Ecclesiastes 11:8a

Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

Isaiah 40:30-31

even to your old age I am he, and to gray hairs I will carry you. I have made, and I will bear; I will carry and will save.

Isaiah 46:4

So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.

2 Corinthians 4:16-18

But [we are different, because] our citizenship is in heaven. And from there we eagerly await [the coming of] the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ; who, by exerting that power which enables Him even to subject everything to Himself, will [not only] transform [but completely refashion] our earthly bodies so that they will be like His glorious resurrected body.

Philippians 3:20-21

Do not rebuke an older man but encourage him as you would a father, younger men as brothers, older women as mothers, younger women as sisters, in all purity. Honor widows who are truly widows. But if a widow has children or grandchildren, let them first learn to show godliness to their own household and to make some return to their parents, for this is pleasing in the sight of God. She who is truly a widow, left all alone, has set her hope on God and continues in supplications and prayers night and day,

1 Timothy 5:1-5

Older men are to be sober-minded, dignified, self-controlled, sound in faith, in love, and in steadfastness. Older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers or slaves to much wine. They are to teach what is good, and so train the young women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled.

Titus 2:2-5
