Finding fault or good…

 Finding fault or good….

There are gratitude journals where you write down  at least 5 things per day for which you are grateful ….do this for at least 40 days to get into the habit of looking for good rather than finding fault…

I thought of that while reading in the book of Mark again….although Jesus did many marvelous things, the rulers of the day found only fault…

Now some of the scribes were sitting there, questioning in their hearts, “Why does this man speak like that? He is blaspheming! Who can forgive sins but God alone?”

And the scribes of the Pharisees, when they saw that he was eating with sinners and tax collectors, said to his disciples, “Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?”

And the Pharisees were saying to him, “Look, why are they doing what is not lawful on the Sabbath?”

And they watched Jesus, to see whether he would heal him on the Sabbath, so that they might accuse him.

The Pharisees went out and immediately held counsel with the Herodians against him, how to destroy him.

And the scribes who came down from Jerusalem were saying, “He is possessed by Beelzebul,” and “by the prince of demons he casts out the demons.”

Mark 2:6-7,16,24,3:2,6,22

Jesus was performing miracle after miracle, the people were amazed, but the leaders could see only fault ….

10 But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins” —he said to the paralytic— 11 “I say to you, rise, pick up your bed, and go home.” And he rose and immediately picked up his bed and went out before them all, so that they were all amazed and glorified God, saying, “We never saw anything like this!”

And when Jesus heard it, he said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.”

28 So the Son of Man is lord even of the Sabbath.”

And he looked around at them with anger, grieved at their hardness of heart, and said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.”  He stretched it out, and his hand was restored.

Mark 2:10-12,17,28,3:5

I dare say that they were not filled with the fruit of the Spirit,….

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.

Galatians 5:22-23

But the works of the flesh…

Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Galatians 5:19-21…

As l venture out, do I find things only to complain about, or do I look for the finger prints of God and where He is Working …finding fault or good…

And in the world, there is plenty to gripe about, no doubt…but, what good is happening?

Can I write down at least 5 things that are good?…or am I blinded by finding fault….

Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.

Galatians 6:7,9-10

Who is wise and understanding among you? By his good conduct let him show his works in the meekness of wisdom. But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast and be false to the truth. This is not the wisdom that comes down from above, but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic. For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every vile practice. But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere. And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.

James 3:13-18
