Advice from a lake…

 Advice from a Lake…

I have a bookmark titled, “advice from a lake” from the product line “advice from…”.

You see this line in many gift shops which has nature themes, park stores…there is advice from the otter, bear, etc…but, this particular one stuck a cord with me…

The advice is..

1. Be clear…

2. Make positive ripples…

3. Look beneath the surface…

4. Stay calm…

5. Shore up friendships…

6. Take time to reflect…

7. Be full of life…

There seemed to be a Biblical lesson with each short admonishment…

1. preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching.   2 Timothy 4:2

Therefore, having put away falsehood, let each one of you speak the truth with his neighbor, for we are members one of another.

Ephesians 4:25

2. 8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”  Acts 1:8

shepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight,  not under compulsion, but willingly, as God would have you;  not for shameful gain, but eagerly; not domineering over those in your charge, but being examples to the flock.

1 Peter 5:2-3

3. But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.”  1 Samuel 16:7

4. Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.   Philippians 4:4-7

5. Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.  1 Thessalonians 5:11

6. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you. Philippians 4:8-9

7. 16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

10 …I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.

      John 10:10b

38 give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed       down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.”

Luke 6:38

Thank YOU….
