What happened to the manna...

 What happened to the manna....

From manna to the fruit of the land...

It is amazing how God provides....think of the perfect timing of the Israelites entering the promised land...spring...the spring harvests, all the way through the the summer and fall harvests...while they were conquering the land piece by piece...no more “ 365 ways to cook Manna” recipes...what a gift of variety after 40 years...

Time after time, throughout the Bible, the are pictures and times of God’s perfect timing...this is one...

I am sure we can each look back over our lives and see those times as well...those “ifs, thens”...those “shoulds”, those “wows”...those “thank yous”....those provisions in unseeming times...even some “whys”...a caring word, hug, a special gift, a look that catches our hearts...provision...thank YOU...as Christians, our inheritance is so much more that the fruit of the land....it is redemption...the seal of the Holy Spirit...an eternal home...and so much more...

The people of Israel ate the manna forty years, till they came to a habitable land.

They ate the manna till they came to the border of the land of Canaan.

Exodus 16:35

So they went up and spied out the land from the wilderness of Zin to Rehob, near Lebo-hamath. They went up into the Negeb and came to Hebron. Ahiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, the descendants of Anak, were there. ( Hebron was built seven years before Zoan in Egypt.) And they came to the Valley of Eshcol and cut down from there a branch with a single cluster of grapes, and they carried it on a pole between two of them; they also brought some pomegranates and figs. That place was called the Valley of Eshcol, because of the cluster that the people of Israel cut down from there.

Numbers 13:21-24

But she had brought them up to the roof and hid them with the stalks of flax that she had laid in order on the roof.

Joshua 2:6

“Flax was cultivated alongside  barley and wheat and was used to make linen...flax and wool were used to make the two main fabrics at this period. The transformation of flax into linen was performed by women. Flax and barley were harvested from the spring equinox tomApril....the conquest of Jericho corresponded to the season of barley and flax harvest, Rahab was  in the process of drying flax stalks on her roof” Archeology  Bible,ESV, page 286.

“The Jordan overflows all its banks, due to spring rains and snowfall from Mount Hermon to the north, throughout the time of the grain Harvest in March and April....” page 288

While the people of Israel were encamped at Gilgal, they kept the Passover on the fourteenth day of the month in the evening on the plains of Jericho.

And the day after the Passover, on that very day, they ate of the produce of the land, unleavened cakes and parched grain.

And the manna ceased the day after they ate of the produce of the land.

And there was no longer manna for the people of Israel, but they ate of the fruit of the land of Canaan that year.

Joshua 5:10-12

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him.

In love he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved.

In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.

In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will, so that we who were the first to hope in Christ might be to the praise of his glory.

In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it,  to the praise of his glory.

But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.

For he himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility

Ephesians 1:3-14,2:13-14
