Just weights...

Just weights....

My father worked for the Department of Agriculture in California. One of his jobs early on was to go around to grocery stores, testing their scales to make sure they were accurate...he did that at gas pumps as well...if they passed he put a round sticker on the item, initialing and dating it if it passed, or condemning if not...I remember looking for those stickers wherever we went to see if my dad had been there...I loved seeing his “sign of approval”...”my dad “...

Still reading Deuteronomy, God speaks about just weights...not being dishonest, but being just, fair...blessings, abominations...it is spoken of in various places in the Word as well...being honest in our  dealing with others...not only that, but not showing partiality...giving one honor over another ...giving correct “weight” to one and not another...

Thank YOU, help me to be honest in my dealings with all people...

“You shall not have in your bag two kinds of weights, a large and a small. You shall not have in your house two kinds of measures, a large and a small. A full and fair weight you shall have, a full and fair measure you shall have, that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you. For all who do such things, all who act dishonestly, are an abomination to the Lord your God.

Deuteronomy 25:13-16

A false balance is an abomination to the Lord, but a just weight is his delight.

When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with the humble is wisdom.

The integrity of the upright guides them, but the crookedness of the treacherous destroys them.

Proverbs 11:1-3

Unequal weights and unequal measures are both alike an abomination to the Lord.

Unequal weights are an abomination to the Lord, and false scales are not good.

Proverbs 20:10,23

Shall I acquit the man with wicked scales and with a bag of deceitful weights?

Micah 6:11

My brothers,  show no partiality as you hold the faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory. For if a man wearing a gold ring and fine clothing comes into your assembly, and a poor man in shabby clothing also comes in, and if you pay attention to the one who wears the fine clothing and say, “You sit here in a good place,” while you say to the poor man, “You stand over there,” or, “Sit down at my feet,” have you not then made distinctions among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts? Listen, my beloved brothers, has not God chosen those who are poor in the world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom, which he has promised to those who love him? But you have dishonored the poor man. Are not the rich the ones who oppress you, and the ones who drag you into court?

If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing well. But if you show partiality, you are committing sin and are convicted by the law as transgressors.

James 2:1-6,8-9
