Not just a bunch of stories....
The pastor shared yesterday about the truth of the Word...was so uplifting...and my heart and soul was so refreshed...
There are times when our faith is tested...cancer, strokes, family, aging bodies, tragedies all around...waking up with consuming pain, baggage that comes in all shapes and sizes, world news, the “out there” or it happens to “others” striking us...the downfall of earthly events...the pains of living in a fallen world...
We want things to get better...sometimes they do and sometimes they don’t...and the news can be pretty depressing....
We have skeptics, cynics, nay-sayers, truth bearers, encouragers, realists, optimists...but we have Truth in the form of the Word...and it is not just a bunch of stories...
His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.
Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.
For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love.
For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
But whoever does not have them is nearsighted and blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their past sins.
Therefore, my brothers and sisters, make every effort to confirm your calling and election.
For if you do these things, you will never stumble, and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
So I will always remind you of these things, even though you know them and are firmly established in the truth you now have.
I think it is right to refresh your memory as long as I live in the tent of this body, because I know that I will soon put it aside, as our Lord Jesus Christ has made clear to me.
And I will make every effort to see that after my departure you will always be able to remember these things.
For we did not follow cleverly devised stories when we told you about the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ in power, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty.
He received honor and glory from God the Father when the voice came to him from the Majestic Glory, saying, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”
We ourselves heard this voice that came from heaven when we were with him on the sacred mountain.
We also have the prophetic message as something completely reliable, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things.
For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
2 Peter 1:3-21
Peter was an eye witness to Christ’s ministry...he wrote down things he saw, experienced...not here-say..he was there with him...he knew first hand the highs and lows, the miracles, the calling, the feeding of thousands, the parables, the denial, the compassion, the forgiveness, the death and resurrection, the ascension...the glory...
He wanted followers, believers...you and me, to realize that we have “everything we need for life” through Christ, the Word...
John spoke of this as well...
That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched —this we proclaim concerning the Word of life. The life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us. We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. We write this to make our joy complete.
1 John 1:1-4
Joy in writing, sharing the Word...truth...
I found I could look at statistics of where this blog is opened...Ukraine, Czech, South America, United States, China, Russia...I don’t know if someone is trolling or what...but my desire is that truth is spread...there is joy in the passing on of truth...whether to my family, friends, those unknown to me...God is God...not a myth or made up stories ...
Thank YOU...
17 Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.
John 17:17
23 But the seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it. This is the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.”
Matthew 13:23
