Sitting in the balcony at a seminar has it advantages. You get a elevated look of the event before you and a different perspective of the people below.
When the speaker explained the way of salvation and asked if any wanted to accept that free gift, she asked people to come forward and talk to the stationed counselors. The music played softly and attendees started moving down the aisle toward the beckoning call...many went forward...
But, watching from the balcony gives an advantage of seeing those people as they move forward...there is a determination in their walk, their body language shows a decision, a purpose different from others who may be walking to a different destination. There may be tears and brokenness in their stance...but the walk is visually separated from the others...
In the Old Testament, there are notable times that the Israelites made a distinct choice...
Deuteronomy 30:15-16, 19-20a, I set before you today life and prosperity, death and destruction. For I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in obedience to him, and to keep his commands, decrees and laws; then you will live and increase, and the Lord your God will bless you in the land you are entering to possess. This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live and that you may love the Lord your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the Lord is your life,....
Joshua 24:15, 22 But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” Then Joshua said, “You are witnesses against yourselves that you have chosen to serve the Lord.”“Yes, we are witnesses,” they replied.
And in the New Testament there were as well,...
When the disciples walked away from their livelihood and followed Christ...when multitudes turned...
Acts 2:37-41 When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?” Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.” With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, “Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.” Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.
We each have that decision to make," whom shall I serve?" Walking in the way of the world or walking in the way of Christ and accepting His salvation...
Thank YOU for your gift, freely given...
